And tbh if I gave Ungodly Hour another spin, I'm sure it would jump up a place or two.

Also, technically an EP, but I suspect Jazmine will be a contender too.

The 1975 - Notes on a Conditional Form
    Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia
    Grimes - Miss Anthropocene
Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?
    Kylie Minogue - Disco
    L. Gaga - Chromatica
    Melanie C - Melanie C
    Roisin Murphy - Roisin Machine
    Sam Smith - Love Goes
Tame Impala - The Slow Rush

I had to chop folklore, which I feel extremely guilty about it...

special mention to The Killers which is such a strong record it should really be in there. but I do love my pop GHERLS.

    bubbling under:
    Ellie Goulding - Brightest Blue

    Halsey - Manic
    Katy Perry - Smile
The Killers - Imploding the Mirage

there weren't many disappointments this year per se but the Disclosure album was just way too lightweight and I really don't have anything from it in rotation anymore.

Bit early, no? There's still some stuff to come out...the schedules don't creak to a close mid-October any more.

For all the talk about it being some kind of glorious return to form, I listened to that Alanis Morrissette album all of twice.

to be honest it’s quite poppy, maybe not experimental enough for your usual tastes

but if you’re the mood it’s incredible cohesive and takes on the current 80s trend without being too predicable or veering too far from the GA sound. I’d put it somewhere between Prince, Pet Shop Boys and George Michael

Really really good. Normally I prefer their poppier stuff than the more mellow, artistic stuff that tends to be the majority of their albums, but here it’s the other way round for me. The singles were ok but the album stuff is better. This is by far my fave and one of the best songs of 2020 for me

funky I would like to take this opportunity to tell you I appreciate the lengths you went to in posting Í and í by way of reparations for Mumbagate, however I must respectfully advise that the first fada is on the o, not the i: RÓISÍN, Róisín :ireland:

After hastily listening to a bunch of the "best-of" albums and determining them all to be rubbish, my list is:

    Róisín Murphy - Róisín Machine
    The Chicks - Gaslighter
Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?
Christine and the Queens - La vita nuova
    The Weeknd - After Hours
    Sufjan Stevens - The Ascension
    Jojo - good to know
    Rina Sawayama - SAWAYAMA
    Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher
    Taylor Swift - folklore

No particular order except that I still can't believe Róisín came and tied Jessie for the best pop album of the year.

I posted her name many times before realising this! I even looked at her name on the cover wondering why one of the accents was a bit "off" and put it down to one of those cooky Róisín things. :D
