I love Tease, the verses are very eighties Madonna. Her cover of Young Hearts Run Free is pretty good too, taking a classic old chestnut in a kind of aquatic disco direction.

"you talk art but baby stop cause you sound like a fool" is the best pop lyric of the year so far.

so the ep was my favourite pop thing of last year (along with billie eilish and a bit of tei shi). solid, wall to wall goodness. that was then, this is now:

i like it on first listen. not completely sold on the "evergreen" bit (i just find the word a tad awkward hence objectionable) and the token non-binary scenes in the video but apart from that it's lovely - the vocal line surprises and the production is great continuing and developing the sound from the ep.

and she is so so lovely as well *.*

The last single Girl Next Door was kind of SO-SO but this new one is much more like it:

gave it a listen the other day but was rather preoccupied with some (actual) pot stirring, so nothing stuck. I'll add it to this week's to-do 'cause the EP was mighty fine

my unexpectedly pink vinyl arrived and it made me very happy for a while. it's still kind of nice to know it's in the next room, sitting pretty atop a shelf.

anyway, i still can't get into the chorus of the new one.

which is a shame as the verses and instrumental are great.

Yes on first listen love the feel of the verses but then the chorus comes in and it is doing a bit too much. Maybe it is one to get used to but I can help but think her high standards seem to have dipped a tad recently.

I now think the album is equally as great as the Ralph EP but the random single drops that will form this new EP haven't been the same quality. This one is quite jarring honestly.

It toes a fine line but I think Headphone Season from the new EP is a pretty good addition to her more bubblegum output

Yes Headphone Season is the best of the unheard tracks but overall the EP isn't up to her previous standards unfortunately.
