I'm pretty sure all the greengrocers here have shut and we're down to one butcher. I fucking hate this town.

Our recycling is pretty shit for taking stuff. They won't do tetrapaks for example so all juice cartons are in the bin.

I can confirm there is actually one greengrocers in town and it's miles away.

There is a fruit and veg stand in the town market, but I've never really considered it.

Oh actually I forgot cat litter, as we do that separately. But how do you fill three bags? What do you feed your cat?

We don't even do his litter that often. We do use biodegradable nappy bags to put his shit in, so I'm gonna save the world a bit. As I say a remarkable amount of Aldi stuff isn't recyclable for shame. I have become quite lazy at it too, so long as we don't go above our three bags a fortnight.

Like three black bags? I really do marvel at how you can manage that.

Perhaps our council is better at recycling. Our tetra paks are recycled, for starters.

Well our black bags are only the size of our kitchen bin, which I think is 50l.

I've really been enjoying the CO - OP recently.

Especially when reduced stickers are on its items.

Morrisons are easily the best for vegetarian/vegan stuff. I wish they'd stop putting bonus mushrooms in things that do not require them, mind you.

I love a good old vegetarian burger. Not one that is trying to taste like meat, but the breadcrumbed variety filled with MUSH. :disco:

Apparently the spicy bean burgers from Lidl are quite good but further to my recent horrors at the lower class supermarkets I shan’t be able to taste test them because I’ll be exclusively shopping at HARRODS from now on :disco:

I had a spicy bean burger at a "restaurant" near me recently and it was about as spicy as a fucking glass of water. I'm not after something that's going to sting my tongue but it was a right pisstake.

we've booked a cottage in Scotland slightly off the beaten track and very conveniently the property manager has suggested getting groceries delivered. so what do we go for? Tesco, Asda or Sainsburys? :denmark:

Asda is the cheapest. Either of the other two will be nicer however.

I think Tesco is easily the worst of the three these days. Really scabby. I was in Morrisons in Stratford the other day and I must say their range of FOREIGN was quite exciting

My local supermarkets in the nearest town are a disgusting combination of Coop and Spar.

The Sainsburys 150 year anniversary adverts on at the morning are especially irritating, even by supermarket standards.

I've also been most put out by the shocking standard of their grapes lately.

How can someone feed a family of five on £250 a month? I don't know whether to marvel at the economy and feel resentful at what we spend, or thank God I don't have to subject myself to it.

I mean I suppose some people have to, but it must take military precision with meal planning. And offer scant opportunity for any sort of treat.

They've changed their minds about Jack's, basically - they're wanting to go the Waitrose route with their "Finest" range instead. Which is a mistake too.

Whether you're in the value range or the finest range, you go in and out of the store with the same bag - no-one wants to go into Pleb Tesco or Posh Tesco because in a normal "Tesco", you've got both. It all feels a bit desperate.

Yes! I got ill more times from eating there than I have any other takeaway. They used actual ketchup as pizza sauce.

    God almighty I miss it.
