I love it even more now than I did then, such an excellent polished pop record... a couple of so-so moments but those are easily drowned out by the towering 10/10s (namely the stunning singles), and nothing on it is actually AWFUL

I NEED to watch the tour again. That Revolution In The Head performance is ELECTRIC. And the Untouchable/Sexy! No, No No.../Call The Shots sequence is one of my favourite things ever :disco:

If ever I get a moment of NADINE HATE coming over me (not uncommon), I just think of 'beautiful robots dancing alone' and I can forgive her pretty much anything.

I love the it when the HUNKS throw the gold ticker tape, I don't know why but it always gives me goosebumps as it's just so simple BUT so effective.

Untouchable was something else; it reminded me of David Gray's Please Forgive Me a bit. Nicola does a magnificent job, and Nadine's beautiful robots was astonishing. Only Kimberly quivering away and Cheryl needlessly ambushing Nadine's lines spoit it. When listening to the Kelly Llorenna style radio edit Sarah's lines always make me smile for a number of reasons, poor lamb.

It's still FANTASTIC. I play it FAR too often and it's BY FAR their best album- and I love the rest too...

10 The Promise (oddly, didn't like it THAT much at the time, but it really was a fantastic single in hindsight)
    10 The Loving Kind
08 Rolling Back the Rivers in Time
    09 Love is the Key
    10 Turn to Stone
    11 Untouchable
03 Fix Me Up- WHY OH WHY OH WHY isn't this "Memory of You" (11) ?
    10 Love is Pain

HATED IT :( It's definitely my least favourite album of theirs.

I had no problem with them maturing their sound or whatnot, but i just found it pretty bland, obvious and lifeless on the whole (and i still DO NOT GET THE FUSS about The Loving Kind + Untouchable). That sort of laid back adult pop sound had been done much better by other people (and them), imo.

God I've been a FOOL. This album is FABULOUS

00 The Promise - well, apart from THAT
    09 The Loving Kind
08 Rolling Back The Rivers In Time

I think I rather objected to the comparative lack of three-songs-in-one at the time

    Also STILL their best album.

It's all about Sarah being on the verge of a nervous breakdown for the full hour or so.

    Have you seen this before?

    <iframe width="854" height="510" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/78mNjp-DlBs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Keep an eye on Sarah right at the start and the others reaction to her. The best is Nadine mouthing something to her like "DAHHNT STAHT SARAH" and the rest shoot her dirty looks through the little intro.

I REALLY like We Wanna Party but it sounds SO out of place on Out of Control. I'm sure if it was on Chemistry it would have got higher marks.

On the whole I think it was a rather "safe" introduction to what was going to be the first Girls Aloud studio album purchase for the X Factor watching audience.

Love Is The Key came on while I was walking to work this morning. This album really is fabulous, and their zenith as far I'm concerned. Max track after max track.

I will never understand what people get so excited about when discussing this 7/10-at-a-push album.

AMEN. Sometimes the surprise that it's not as shit as you remember seems to turn it into a stone cold classic, but no, it was a shadow of former glories despite the peaks.

For me it's the fact that if you wheedle out the few weak points (and there are too many to be able to 'ignore' them when rating the album as a whole), what's left is proper amazing. And there is more than enough of that to get excited about.

It's got some fantastic highs but some real tat too - pretty much split 50/50 down the middle.

I'd struggle to score it overall based on that.

My version would go like this:

    01. Memory of You (re-distribute the vocals to a Nicola-Nadina-Sarah trinity)
    02. The Loving Kind
    03. Rolling Back The Rivers
    04. Love Is The Key (Thriller Jill remix)
    05. Turn To Stone
    06. Untouchable
    07. She
    08. Love Is Pain
    09. Miss You Bow Bow
    10. The Promise (NEEDS MUST etc)
