    :D

I was introducing my friend to Eurovision 2005 yesterday (My first non-moopy friend to show a genuine interest. If she had a cock I would so marry her) and this was her favourite song. Mostly because she found it hilarious though.

I think it's catchy enough, but it has a bit of Malena-itis in that the verses are complete nothingness and it's all very "Don't bore us, get to the chorus!"

Actually watching back six is a bit harsh. Bump it up to a 7.

Ugh, it's a tricky one. It's definitely the least 'modern' entry Turkey has sent post 2002 and it's also jumping onto the crazy drumming bandwagon in quite a spectacular mannor. (I mean, which country did NOT have drums onstage in 2005?)

She seems to be a bit of a nut-job and tries to make the performance and the rather dull song at least semi-spectacular but if we're talking Turkish entries Sibel, Sertab, Athena and Mör Ve Ötesi were all MILES STRONGER

Based on what I would give it in a 2005 context, nul...

Based on what I think it's worth out of 10 (or 12), three.

    What's a boy to do?

Sibel? Really? I think that song is quite hysterically awful. The chorus just seems to consist of her SQUEAKING.

Oh, I probably phrased that wrong it should have been performances. Sibel was fucking BARKING on stage, even if the song was a bit irritating but it doesn't just PLOD along like Rimi Rimi Ley does.

I'm still not entirely convinced Sibel wasn't a man in drag. She made Isis Gee look positively demure!

I love the beat to Rimi rimi ley, and she makes such an ugly language sound amazing.

The ESC version is dramatically different from the one that was original selected by TRT

I'm not going to watch any clips because it's one of those songs that goes around and around my head for WEEKS if ever I listen to it.

I remember when I was on holiday in Riga they have a supermarket chain called 'Rimi' which set me off every time I saw it

I feel sorry for her a bit. The Ukrainian sound engineers messed up in the final. 1 minute into the performation (as you can hear on the youtube) they start playing Boonika bate toba in the background.

Is that why she sounds like she's singing off the beat? It is VERY distracting!

I can't tell what you mean.

If you mean the period from 1:11 to 1:34 where you can also hear a moldovan man signing, then yes, that's why it sounds like she's singing off beat.

If you mean the entire song then no, it means you just don't like the style of song.

I think it's a bit of both to be honest. The way she sings the verses of the song just doesn't seem to fit the music behind it, but watching back again that is definitely made worse by the man singing in the background at that bit.

I think it's just that the song just has weak verses generally though, and she doesn't sing them particularly well. The chorus is fine though.

I completely agree, the beat is by far the best thing about the song.

The worst thing about the whole entry for me is how Turkey have gone from something as amazing and outside the Eurovision box thinking as Athena's For Real to something as plain ordinary and non-event-tastic as Rimi Rimi Ley.

What a pure piece of esc crap! I totally loved it at the time! And as a proper rimi rimi ley fan I managed to tolerate people throwing things at me during her performance

I can't make my mind up about this. Sometimes I love it, but then I can also hate it.

Is one of their better entries though.

Better than that Sertab rubbish. (Opens a can of worms).
