To celebrate the return of the Pop Toilet, I will be compiling my Top 50 songs of all time masquerading as an ironic list of trashy classics.

I've not actually started compiling it yet, but here's a picture of Adam Rickitt's tits in the meantime.

I've got a list like this. It's my top 100 worst records that I bought and love list. And it could be due another airing.

    Rules:

The songs mostly come from 1998 - 2002 and almost all had a UK release. The only ones not to be released in the UK were played down G-A-Y. Nothing I have come to discover at a later date has been included, so this really is a list of the shit I was listening to at the time.

Multiple entries for artists are allowed. How could one possibly choose just one Lolly single, for instance?

    List of banned artists:

Some artists were genuinely quite successful so I have disallowed them. The following artists all enjoyed enough commercial success in the UK to spare them inclusion.

    Kylie Minogue
    Steps
    Atomic Kitten
    S Club 7
    Ricky Martin
    Britney Spears
    Christina Aguilera

I'm almost ready to start! :disco:

I love how they blatantly went to the Post Office to get those backing singers.

So, there are 10 songs just missing out on a coveted place in RobotBoy's Top 50. Those unlucky songs are, in no particular order...

Lolly – Big Boys Don’t Cry

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5kJHfeUspYM&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5kJHfeUspYM&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

This chilling ballad is an absolutely stunning showcase for Lolly's delicate vocals.

    A1 – If Only

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/A-CyfekJB3Y&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/A-CyfekJB3Y&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Completely wasted as an album track, 'If Only' was taken from A1's debut album.

Westlife – If I Let You Go

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AIykBofov9U&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AIykBofov9U&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

A potentially unpopular choice, but I loved Westlife's singles from their first album. It all went downhill from there, but this Jorgen Elofsson-penned track is still a favourite of mine.

Alice Deejay – Will I Ever

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z-jvni4HRzA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z-jvni4HRzA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Anyone who names their album 'Who Needs Guitars' anyway is good in my books. I love the orgy themed video too.

    allSTARS* – Back When

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/S9u1D5RXpK4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/S9u1D5RXpK4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Poor old allSTARS. On paper, they were a dead cert to be huge but they never recovered from the failure of their first single. This was their last single release and a bit more subdued than the others. Still fantastic though, and as I've said elsewhere, the Xenomania mix is beyond epic!

    Aqua – Doctor Jones

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/buXJlBd3Mf8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/buXJlBd3Mf8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Aqua don't qualify for the Pop Toilet due to how many records they sold, but I think they'd take it as a compliment to be included in this rundown, and one of their tracks does indeed make my chart proper.

Geri Halliwell – Bag It Up

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6C-EKNh64NA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6C-EKNh64NA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I still can't believe that performance actually happened.

Jessica Simpson – I think I’m In Love With You

    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8dSOa8-KNSw&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8dSOa8-KNSw&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

I kinda hate Jessica Simpson these days, and never liked 'Irresistible' like most of the other gais, but this is wonderful.

    Mel C – I Turn To You

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ISnjihuje94&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ISnjihuje94&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Would probably be a bit higher in my list of favourites, but I actually think it's a bit too GOOD to be included in the list proper.

allSTARS* – The Land Of Make Believe

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IjQqNqgaI9E&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IjQqNqgaI9E&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Another allSTARS* track just misses out on the main chart. I remember thinking at the time that this was actually quite understated(!) considering it was a Bucks Fizz cover.

'Big Boys Don't Cry' is one of the CREEPIEST pop songs of all time. The instrumental in the middle sends chills down my spine to this day.

Some real dross in there RB, though I can't give enough love out to Back When :( Also one of the great Westlife singles tucked away in there. Shame it couldn't last for them but there are one or two CORKERS nestled away in their back catalogue. About 3 in fact, if memory serves...

I hated them on principle at the time, but in retrospect I have to admit that Westlife's 'My Love' is :swede: -TASTIC.

Thank God Rachey never darkens this forum. :shy:

OT: She's been confirmed as the voice of Rapunzel in the new Disney/Pixar movie. It's going to be the first of the old school Disney fairytale Musicals to be done in 3D.

But there's enough distance now to admit there were some cracking tunes tucked away amongst the utter drivel. Hopefully not too many people will be stabbing the New Posts button this week...

    Next up, Christian's Westlife Top 10 :D

Seriously though I do really like "When you're looking like that", "My love" and "World of our own". Apart from those three, they're utter rubbish.

Of the twenty tracks on Westlife's Greatest Hits, I can identify six tracks I would voluntarily listen to:

    If I Let You Go
    Fool Again
    My Love
    Queen Of My Heart
    World Of Our Own
    When You're Looking Like That

I'm quite sure that list will remain static for the forseeable future, as it has done for the past five years.

That said, 'When You're Looking Like That' is one of my favourite 90s/00s pop songs of all time :shy:

I'll give you the last two but the first one is HORRID. "Fool Again", "If I Let You Go" and "Bop Bop Baby" (my NEPHEW likes it, OK? :shy:) on the other hand...

There is FAR too much Westlife appreciation in this thread. To balance it out let's remind ourselves of this AURAL ABORTION :zombie:

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MsTkFwFvF60&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MsTkFwFvF60&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

So shit it didn't even go to #1 (or even get particularly close). I thought for a beautiful moment it was all over for them after that... :(

It was the lead single from their fourth album. Only went in at #4 so they rescued the project with their cover of Mandy.

It's a cover of a shitty Irish song called Rainbow Zephyr.

I shared a house with two friends when I got back from Ibiza in '99 in East London and me and my friend Emmy used to torture our other flatmate Scott by playing it really loudly on repeat every morning as we were getting ready for work. In the end he snapped the CD when he woke up with raging hangover and we decided we would go one further and sing it to him through the bathroom door as he was throwing up. So we bought another one.

Looking back at it now, we used to terrorise him so much! :D

'Bag It Up' is so EPICALLY RUBBISH that it TRANSCENDS the POP TOILET into a LEAGUE OF ITS OWN. And I LOVE IT.

'I Turn To You' is just DROSS of the LOWEST ORDER and doesn't bear MENTIONING anywhere except on a list of THE MOST FORGETTABLE NUMBER ONES EVER
