Is a BUSTED sofa. But as well as that, her 80s output was actually quite FABULOUS in a "guilty pleasure" kind of way....

Just HOW big was she in the States as well ?

    Point WELL made

I just read a biography that said by the time of her US success, she had put on so much weight she looked like a dancing hobbit...

This, I seem to recall, is QUITE true

    And I don't wanna talk it OH-VAH

From the classic pre-1988 SAW period, before they REALLY started to churn them out and became the McDonald's of POP!

I agree- they were fucking AWESOME pre 1988 (and through much of that year they still came up with the classics- the Nanas work, "The Harder I Try", "Who's Leaving Who) and properly dance influenced rather than just hitting the "SAW" button on the synthesiser.

Not to say that POST 1988 they were DREADFUL mind you, but some of it is PISS POOR, I agree

Kylie got all the best songs from then on and most of their energy was focussed on her. But she didn't really come good till 1990 and after their mega-success top ten every calendar week period.

Id say they gave her the best songs from the third album onwards- the second album was very much a rush job and some of the best work (Donna Summer, "You'll Never Stop Me Loving You", couple of Sinitta's EPICS) still leaked out.

    And so you SHOULD

They turned some DUFF groups into some fucking WONDERS. "The Harder I Try" is the best Motown rip off of the eighties if you ask ME

I like that one, too! And then there's the mighty "when it comes down to bumming you, he ain't no competition!". Ah, good old Nathan Moore, always did a lot more for me than Bros and caused some pre-pubescent hormonal stirrings I can tell ya. The harder I try INDEED. He's about 40 now and was recently caught kerb-crawling. Matt Goss probably looks better than him these days mind you, a lot better than he did back then. Loved when Brother Beyond tried to rip-off Bros with "Be My Twin" and creating two Nathan Moores in special effects on their TOPT performance.

Indeed. The drums at the beginning are a sample from The Isley Brothers 'This Old Heart Of Mine'.

I never knew about that Isley Bros sample- is it an actual sample or the age old SAW trick of doing a rerecording and not paying the royalties ?

Nathan Moore was also my pre-teen wank fantasy (well, you know what I mean...). Good to see he's a raging HOMO now

"Naughty Girls" was her biggest single here. It peaked at number 3. "Touch Me" was a number 4, "I Wanna Have Some Fun" was a number 8, and "I Only Wanna Be With You" was a number 31. She also had several other charting singles that didn't go top 40. For instance "Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now" was a number 80 charting single.

"Naughty Girls" and "I Wanna Have Some Fun" were her finest moments. The US gets all the good hits (sometimes).

Is it just me or is "I Surrender (To The Spirit Of The Night)" a shameless copy of "Self Control"?

    I do love it, regardless.

    2. I Surrender (To The Spirit Of The Night)
    3. Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now
    4. Touch Me
    5. Perhaps :D
    6. Hurt Me Hurt Me (But The Pants Stay On)
    7. Naughty Girls Need Love Too
    8. Do You Do Ya
    9. I Only Wanna Be With You
    10. Hold On Tight

Brilliant new mixture of ELECTRO ROCK/POP, formulating a new mature Sam Fox sound you got to hear.

    :D

MY, it's like Transvision Vamp met Anastacia and went all half-hearted rubbish gay dance. She don't need nasty toys or dirty polaroids apparently...I'll keep that in mind.

No Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now, or even a Santa Maria.
