Up to 2 in the midweeks. Looks like that Radio 1 snub doesn't matter much :disco:

It really isn’t a radio 1 song at all

I’m not sure why we’re particularly surprised it’s not on the playlist

Calvin Harris released a 12" version only last week which resulted in an increase in sales, thereby fending off the accelerated streaming ratio this week. If that hadn't happened, with a gap as narrow as that, Gaga would be #1 in the midweeks.

Have to say though, I love that the stupid bullshit rules have led to a rebirth of the honourable late 90s tradition of bullshit multireleases to game the system :disco:

I'm kind of surprised more people aren't milking it - even down to just reducing the track on iTunes. You reset the clock for another three weeks if you can increase sales for just one.

It's more open to abuse than all the free gifts in the early 80s.

Is that a fan account or does her ASIB character now have its own Twitter feed? :D

Anyway, good for her. Well deserved.

Pretty amazing to be number 1 single, album and film! Such as massive boost to Gaga's career, it must be pretty exciting for her. I'm sure Madonna is delighted for her.

So the film has CLIMBED to the #1 spot in the UK? Amazing as it didn't enter there on a massive film week, did it

#1 single, album and movie is AMAZING. I demand she does the Superbowl again, and BBC BREAKFAST to celebrate

It opened against Venom, which was always going to have a huge first week. This is holding up much more successfully though.

It's not managed to beat Halloween in the US which opened with similar figures to Venom, but obviously that's a very seasonal choice. It will be interesting to see how Bohemian Rhapsody fares in comparison - one for the dads...

And first top 10 here for five years... I had no idea it had been that long on both counts! Somehow she's managed to keep herself relevant with some pretty poor sales...!

Yeah, it probably worked in its favour in that respect, considering it almost certainly wouldn't have got to #1 in its first week anyway. It meant the audience would have been bolstered further down the line.

Back up to number 11 in the UK too (and is probably subject to the old song chart rule so is probably higher in actual figures? THE CHARTS ARE SO CONFUSING)

An absolutely incredible career-defining comeback really.
Shallow will go down with Poker Face and Bad Romance as one of her signature songs, and is probably now firmly rooted as one of the all-time great soundtrack songs following that Oscars performance which is STILL trending a week on.

What I find really interesting is that younger people seem to be engaging with Gaga thanks to A Star Is Born, and buying into her as a pop music icon, which will be so important for her when she releases her next album. If she can find a killer lead single I have no doubt it will smash.

Yes, obviously it all depends on what she releases, but she is brilliantly well positioned.

    I don’t believe I’ve heard Shallow yet.

I wouldn’t QUITE put it alongside her biggest pop hits, which were genuinely INESCAPABLE.

But for sure she’s in a good place. That’s presuming she wants to make a decent pop comeback and doesn’t instead decide to chase credibility - which her DESPERATION in the last few weeks doesn’t entirely rule out.

I don't particularly like the song and I get distracted by Gaga's plastic face when I see it performed live, but kudos to her for this massive success.
I don't pay attention to the charts these days, so I completely missed the feat of the 5th UK No1. So, well done, Gaga. I hope you stop investing money on your face and concentrate on producing good pop music from now on.
