Based on the book by Gillian Flynn starring Amy Adams as a self harming journalist and Patricia Clarkson as her mom from the director of Big Little Lies.
I can't wait to be slain by this. HBO are really delivering the goods with their recent stuff, Vallee is a brilliant director, Gillian Flynn's screenwriting is better than her novels and Amy Adams is literally the queen of everything.
Watched the first episode yesterday,it was quite promising. But man it's another show where it's a complete fucking task to make out the audio/dialogue. It's so low and mumbled. It's putting me off watching the next episode.
Chris Messina tugging on his penis also Adora is such a good pantomime horrible mother “I never loved you”
Well this was rather good, the last three episodes especially. Adora was the obvious show stealer but Elizabeth Perkins was a delicious lush. I could not quite believe what was happening in that Chris Messina scene. The brother of the murdered girl was very lovely too.
Yeah lots of nice male eye candy. Also make sure to watch the credits of the finale as there's a scene after.
Messina messing with his mole was hot but did we even see it? do I have to turn up brightness on my screen?
Mr M read out a synopsis of the book after we finished the series and it sounded like the book didn't leave much to the imagination
Yeah, though there are things in the show that are expanded on that barely get a mention in the book, and vice versa.
Spoiler: Last episode felt very smug and vindicated till the last 15 minutes. Patricia Clarkson was amazing. I’d only seen her in Brothers and Sisters before where she played a fairly mediocre mistres. Amy was also wonderful, I found her sister to be incredibly annoying and petulant, and in retrospect a bit too KNOWING, but I guess that was the role.
Omg you’re right. That’s Patricia WETTIG. They do look similar, I was taken aback by the new found DEPTH in her acting skills. I was so happy for her as well.
And now I've finished. The second half is definitely much better. Patricia Clarkson steals the whole thing.
Yes! I wasn’t sure what to make of Preaker willingly let her mom poison her AND ALMOST KILL HER, but at least that final twist was good.
And Junebug! Haven't seen American Hustle (I refuse to) and the less said about Julie & Julia the better although I did enjoy her in it.
