    The Promise

Well we know and love this. And I do love it now. I still think it's their weakest original single but MUCH kudos for doing something out of the ordinary for them. I love the vocals on it and it's catchy as AIDS. It sounds SO SO much better in full quality...

Oooh and I LOVE the fadeout ending. I always thought it ended too abruptly in the single version. YAY !

Am I the only one that loves Sarah's 'Walking In Primrose' bit?

    The Loving Kind

OH MY GOD, this is FABULOUS. It's just a Pet Shop Boys with better vocals. "You may be disinclined to find the love you left behind"- OH MY FUCK, what a LYRIC. I can see the "Call The Shots" comparisons but it's a bit lazy really...it's just slightly melancholic and of a vaguely similar tempo. And not as good. But then "Call The Shots" is one of the greatest songs EVER MADE, of course.

OH HOW GAY IS THIS? It's 80s disco MAGNIFICENCE. And people aren't even thinking is the best thing on the album? I think I'm going to SPERM...

The best bit of Promise for me is Nicola's verse > the worst is Sarah's verse.

Rolling Back The Rivers In Time

Oh...well this is something of a comedown after the first two. I don't dislike it, no no no. It's quite good but an absolute album track. It seems a bit messy too- it starts off almost latinesque with a bit of flamenco and then I'm not quite sure it carries that through. I like it...it's growing on me by the end. It doesn't seem that the vocals fit the music either. It's not gelling for me this at all...maybe it's a grower. WE'LL SEE

I didn't like it at first, but I love it now. That whole verse from Sarah's loud bit, to Nicola WIRING and Nadine's heart turning to SOLID GOLD is pretty fantastic.

The "walking primrose" bit of "The Promise" is probably the bit that makes it a Girls Aloud song rather than some nondescript nonsense...

Oh I thought Sheena would love RBTRIT, the best part about it for me is the 'flamenco' beat, it's gorgeous

    Love Is The Key

Hmm, ok, the first two songs were TOWERING MAGNIFICENCE or something. The next two haven't been. This is VERY "Wild Horses". I don't like the speak-singing in the opening verse AT ALL. Again, not BAD but I hope this isn't a highlight or else we'll be in trouble.

God this really is a COMPLETE "Wild Horses" rip off the more it goes on. UNASHAMEDLY SO. You can almost sing it over the top of it...is this guitar-country-electro theme going to go on? We've had it in the last two songs and I need a CHANGE now thank you very much.

    I don't DISLIKE IT.

Remember, I didn't even get "Tangled Up" on first listen, so this party could mean FUCK ALL but usually the Aloud's stuff is reasonably instant for me...

I think it probably is the best thing on the album, but then I've played it about twenty times more than anything else bar The Promise, so I guess this isn't the most even contest.

    Turn To Stone

Now THIS is more like it. Ice cold electro-disco. This could be on a Bertine Zetlitz album and we ALL know that's never a bad thing.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the chorus to this. It's so simple but it's gorgeous and the plinkety plonkety Krypton Factor sounds in the background are magical. Who is singing the chorus? It's VERY VERY GOOD. Absolutely not a single, radio would shun it I reckon, but this is JUST what I want The Aloud to be up to in 2008. Perfect...

    "Untouchable" is FUCKING AMAZING.

It doesn't seem to want to end. Is this the really long one? Oh my god, I want it to go on FOREVER. This is ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING

And in my dreams it feels like we are forty storeys tall...

    It's just Blondie. It's ABSOLUTELY fucking Blondie re-imagined in a 2008 setting...FUCKING AMAZING. I'm speechless...

Oh my GOD, the bit where the music drops out and comes back in...OH MY GOD

This is the moment of music I've been waiting for in 2008. It's like the first time I heard "The One" and "In My Arms" rolled into ONE

ENTIRELY ! It's like a "Heart of Glass" and "Fade Away And Radiate" mashup and the delivery is PURE Debbie Harry. It's absolutely MAGNIFICENT. And I bet it won't even be a single.

    I COULD CRY

    Fix Me Up

When this started I thought it was going to be a RIGHT CLUNKER but it's warming on me by the end...I'm still having a GAY COMA over its predecessor though. I can't judge this properly as a result...

It's song 7, the "reggae number" again, innit? Well not REGGAE but that kinda LILT to it. Mmm...Lilt. Do they still make the Mango one? Favourite drink ever

Anyway, this is alright, it's not ace, but it won't cause me to flick. Typical GA album fodder for me.

Oh my god, this is so correct, and I can't believe I hadn't drawn that comparison before. It's also made me like 'Untouchable' about 10,000 times more than before. Thanks Suomi.
