i actually investigated vapes for the very first time a week ago. wish there was one with the size and look of a cigarette that you could light up.

    i'd totally consider them then.

I'd quite forgotten about the End Of Week 1 SCREAM. I've already hurled a (nasty) bowl to the floor and anyone who crosses me will GET IT

i've just completed one week too. last cigarette was the past saturday night. i've managed to whole nights at the bar without smoking or drinking. actually i haven't had any alcohol bar a glass of champagne with my parents (mother would've never gotten over the slight) and a shot of tequila at closing last night.

my liver is aging in reverse as we speak.

I do wish they would just BAN the fucking things. I hardly think that I'd bother faffing around trying to find a dealer to procure 20 Marlboro Red

Not only am I behaving more autistically than usual - an art exhibition I just saw was COMPLETELY RUINED by the STAFF CHATTING - but I seem to have reverted to being five and watched The Peanuts Movie last night :wired:

Which was quite good actually. Just as well they got the voices right, otherwise there'd have been some terrifying temper tantrums

Me quitting smoking ended with me on mood enhancing anti-depressants. Make of that what you will.

I think I will have an official second quit soon, before the drinking/ smoking goes too far. It's just so grotty. I had like 1.5 last night. Also I can barely drink right now. It seems my tablets make drinking very tough and unpleasant.

    JESUS WEPT. Is nothing sacred?

I wouldn't rule that out here, which is kind of bizarre as smoking doesn't exactly cheer one up. Someone I know ended up with CROHN'S DISEASE about six months after finally quitting

    LOVELY

When I quit, I did feel like it was keeping me from FALLING APART and all the cracks were exposed.

Japan is currently freaking the shit out of me with smoking laws. Seemingly against the law to smoke in the streets and punishable by fine, but trains and upscale hotels are happy to provide smoking areas? It's buggered up my natural routines.

Japan has plenty of idiosyncrasies. Not sure if it's actually a thing, many hotel floors smell faintly of tobacco just outside individual rooms

Having not smoked for a week, I thought I'd treat myself to self-harm and bought a packet of 20 Marlboro Red yesterday. OH MY DEAR LORD THE NEW PACKAGING :gross:

I half-heartedly had one and threw the rest in the bin. NO THANKS

you'll find smoking areas outside a lot of convenience stores which are everywhere anyway but otherwise yes, walking the streets and smoking is a big no-no. most izakayas and restaurants allow smoking too

Smaller towns (especially in Kyushu) also seem fine with concept of street smoking. I enjoyed train smoking booths the most though.

YES I DO REALISE THAT :tongueout:

At least in Germany they've retained the LOVELY LOGOS even if they are plonked next to an oozing blood head or some sort of melon-sized cancerous cyst. No such joy here

    OBVIOUSLY

Oh I love the new packaging. Especially this one, which i can't stop thinking is an anus:

There's also the one of a woman blowing smoke directly into a child that she's holding, which is just ridiculous.

It's very much working with me, although I'm now trying to think of ways to get hold of fags which don't come in THAT packaging

Actually it does evidence the importance of aesthetics when it comes to smoking, which I'd underestimated. I'd never buy a brand which had a nasty design and now they ALL have

I wonder if my mother has considered how her Brexit vote will affect the steady supply of cheap Eastern European fags yet?

Zu-K! Also a guy at work quit as he said the new packaging was terrible.

Is it actually green? I thought it looked brown in that photo. Whatever colour it is it's minging.

It must be a right faff for those working on the kiosk in Tesco now they can't tell the packets apart.

Give it another 20 years and they'll be banned completely.

It's like a suicidally depressed olive. They definitely did their research as it is quite the most unappealing colour imaginable

It really is overdue that smoking was banned from those born of a certain time. Millennials will be legally able to smoke next year, I really thought it would be banned by then.

My smoking habits are all over the shop at the moment, but I'd say I have become a social smoker. I never smoke at work. Rarely at home. Most likely at Uni. The loss of 10's for a social smoker is a tragedy, but a good catalyst to go back to not smoking.

    I believe so.

We've had plain packaging for about 5 years from memory in Australia/NZ and our smoking rates continue to drop and drop.

To be fair though, it's a lot more frowned upon over there, a lot more expensive and they are much more nanny states than Europe so it makes sense to have lower smoking rates, but I'd say it seems to at least help even if just a little.

I remember reading there's also evidence that it makes 'hardened' smokers 'even hardender' if that makes sense.

My new hobby is defacing the pictures on K's Amber Leaf packets. The bloke with a breathing tube doesn't looks so sad when you make the tube look like a fat joint.
