    from billboard:

i REALLY might die this year
she's supposedly already premiered The Key To Funky some time ago at some showcase and it's supposedly "a return to the sly & robbie sound"

i went on a little investigation and this is what i found out

there seems to already be a video shot for "corporate cannibal" by a guy called nick hooker

his website is down right now, but you can access it through the cache - there's a slideshow of some of his work and i can definitely see how it'd match grace's style

the last piece of news in the respective section on his site says:

whether this has been shot and shelved indefinitely is unclear, but it appears so

    the site's cache:

i'm having a huge grace period AGAIN thanks to one man show (which i managed to finally download from youtube)
what a FANTASTIC piece of ART for art's sake

i feel it almost COMPULSORY to find a 12.5 year old admirer
i simply HAVE to sing "you're just 12 and a half, i'm two times that/tell what's your mama, gonna thing about THAT" to someone

i've uploaded the fantastic performance of la vie en rose from one man show in ipod-ready format for a friend, posting a link here as well if anyone else would like it

    http://www.zshare.net/download/grace-jones-la-vie-en-rose-live-mp4.html

the sound goes a bit off at the fourth minute, but all version i've seen are like that, might be on purpose
and it's not the bubbly romantic studio version of La Vie En Rose
it's a dark, disturbing and uneven masterpiece of a version

    Grace Jones plotting music comeback

    (Friday November 23, 2007 11:15 AM)

Actress/singer Grace Jones is to release her first album in almost two decades.

The former Bond girl is planning to resurrect her pop career with a brand new record entitled Corporate Cannibal, featuring guest spots from rocker Brian Eno and dance star Tricky.

Jones, 59, whose last studio album was released in 1989, has been working on her new sounds with the help of her on/off lover, aristocrat Ivor Guest.

A source tells The Independent, "It has been touted to at least one label and is meant to be a remarkable record."

a little STRANGÉ for old times sake

I'd like to see Grace back with an ELECTRO FUNK EXTRAVAGANZA

She is absolutely so suited to the current 80s electro revival

    COME ON GRACE

i'm actually in grace mode again thanks to my first ever ebay purchase the pull up to my bumper/la vie en rose single on vinyl which i wouldn't begin to know where i could play but is oh so pretty

i also managed to get my paws on the 3 cd ultimate collection and am yet to make my way through it which is exciting considering there's stuff there i haven't heard - victor wants to be a jazz musician has always sounded wonderfully promising

hurricane just might be some reworked version of her track with tricky cradle to the grave

honestly i'm just holding out for version 2.0 of her sly & robbie period...
though i wouldn't mind some disco either
    or some electro really

I really like it! Lovely to hear she's back.

Though it sounds like it could have been a track on the Massive Attack Mezzanine album.

Edit: And that's not a bad thing in my book.

the corporate cannibal video is fantastic, though it's starting to feel out of place in this subforum

this is shaping up to be a tremendous project

    OH MY FUCK

"Corporate Cannibal" is fucking AMAZING...it's absolutely PRIME Grace. It could have been on "Nightclubbing"- yes, the Massive Attack reference is very good

Any idea what the lead single will be? I'm actually hoping it's NOT CC...although she isn't going to get a whopping hit, it won't get ANY radio play AT ALL and if she plays her cards right, she might just gain a bit of Radio 2 if she's lucky...

But FUCK ME, this is GREAT

    LOVE IT

Definitely see the Mezzanine reference, it does sound like a recording from those sessions. Great video and a really stylish song. Officially excited about the new album now.

I am expecting lots of decent/exciting remixers jumping on board for this album too, unlike poor Cyndi, Grace is still well cool.
