Story of a Heart is now out there.
It's quite good.
Bit too low key after the other two but I am liking it. This is so album of 2017 isn't it?
Still living for Lisa in that performance. Cannot wait for the two weekend performances.
Well that brightened my morning. Faye gets the best verse and Lisa sounds lovely on her little bit. To nitpick, the ad libs at the end are definitely inferior to the original.
Slightly underwhelmed by Story Of A Heart. All the interesting bits of instrumentation in the original have been wiped or flattened out, when I wanted them to be enhanced.
I mean it's still a great song and all (and they certainly haven't shat all over it like Kerry Ellis and Brian May just have), but I wanted a bit more.
Big yay at Lisa getting the bit I thought would be destined for H, though.
Literally GAGGING for the 7th Heaven mix.
This is precisely where I find myself, too.
It was always going to be a really tall order to get it right, but I think it's absolutely brilliant. The production is different from the original, but it's so much richer than I had expected from the clip, and they've managed to make it sound like a Steps Christmas single, which if they had any sense (or indeed if things worked like they used to) is exactly what it would be.
I love that Lisa gets THAT part, I love the twinkly beginning, I love the bits where the music drops out and comes back in again, and the adlibs obviously aren't a patch on Helen Sjöholm's, but I do love Claire's "Story of a heeeeeeart" - that is a proper turn-of-the-century pop adlib if ever I heard one!
10/10 from me.
The more I listen, the more I think it sounds like a demo. Or at least a demo of how I wanted it to sound.
But I think monsta is right - the 7th Heaven mix (it IS slated to be a single, isn't it?) is going to be utterly transcendent. I'm fully expecting it to be the gayest thing since 'Dance Your Pain Away'.
Isn't there a Matt Pop mix of the BAO original? If not, I've done a very good job of imagining what it would sound like
Anyway, I really like this. What an amazing ABBA comeback single it would have made - I wonder if it was mooted at any point Helen getting her mitts on it.
The remix is here.
It looks like it was taken down just as I posted the link.
HOLY FUCKING FUCK THE 7TH HEAVEN MIX OH MY GOD I AM DEAD.
There's a remix ALREADY?
This is one of the best executed campaigns of OUR LIFETIME
It's on the digital tracklisting!
An utter blinder! Amazing promo slots, phenemonal tracks, incredible styling (except poor LSL's weave).
WHERE IS THE REMIX?
It does indeed exist.
This is nice enough, if a bit twee.
The remix is obviously everything you could wish for in all its glorious excess.
I have to say I might have given our Faye both verses of this. Her 'tonight Matthew, I AM AGNETHA' interpretation trumps Claire's more ponderous, theatrical approach to the first verse.
I AM AGNETHA
The original could be accused of being a bit twee if you focus on the pan pipes. But then there's the DARK LYRICS to counter that
And yet APPARENTLY certain gays are already hailing it as their wedding song
I like this the most of the first three tracks released from the album, but I was absolutely convinced it was an ABBA cover - it feels ridiculously familiar. Is there a particular ABBA song it sounds very similar to or is it just a general ABBA sound I'm hearing?
You know it's written by Benny and Bjorn?
omg is this actually a cover of that(italic) song? omg.
i'm in two minds about this (i heard 30 secs of it but i have an opinion). i loved it and i hated it.
oh yeah, now i remember. i like that this amazing song is reaching a wider audience but. i feel like they lost something from the (swedish) original.
You're missing my point. I know it was written by Benny and Bjorn (though I didn't until I looked it up to check if it was a cover). I mean it sounds identical to a SPECIFIC ABBA song but I'm not sure which it is and I wondered if anyone could enlighten me on it, as I'm not a big ABBA fan. Or am I wrong and it doesn't sound like a a specific song, it just sounds like a Benny and Bjorn penned general track?
See what I mean?
Notice I never posted in that thread so I probably never heard it there.
Do you let the kids away with that excuse at school?
I didn't do my research so it's not MY fault that I got it wrong!
Having said that, it's just occurred to me that RB probably played it to me at some point and that might be why I've heard it.
No - you are actually completely misinterpreting my question...!! That's the problem. Maybe I didn't make myself clear.
I HAD done my research and knew Benny and Bjorn wrote it WHEN I made that post.
I HADN'T (as far as I'm aware) heard the 2009 version of it.
So I was asking is there ANOTHER ABBA song that sounds very similar to it... that's all.
I think 'does this sound very similar to another song Bjorn and Benny wrote for Abba?' may have made your point more clearly.
