Strictly is just BETTER than X-Factor... I think it's the judges getting to give scores too, and the training montages and Lilia Kopylova (or however you spell it)

Absolutely. And that % share is quite remarkable.

How many votes are cast on SCD? I know Kate Thornton said it was 3.5m on X Factor this week.

I've always thought that X-Factor (and in fact many music shows) probably dips a tiny bit towards the end because they really encourage people to root for one person and so when that person goes out there's often little impetus to continue watching; for example I'm sure there are people that really liked Ben, and Eton Road that will be impartial to Leona and Ray, especially as the songs begin to repeat.

Of course, Dancing follows the same format but I think, as has been said, that there's something appealing about just watching the spectacle of the show rather than rooting for one person.

X Factor was beating SCD for quite a bit of this series if the press are to be believed, I vaguely remember and interview with Louis Walsh boosting about X Factors "triumph" over SCD, X Factor did peak a month ago when it got over 9.8million (average) to SCDs 9.3. Nevertheless, these two shows in particular have arguably "saved" Saturday night TV.

It would be interesting to see what SCD is capable of without the other. Has SCD ever gone up against anything other than X Factor?

It really goes up against Millionaire but that is hardly a big show for ITV anymore. The only example I can think of is when the SCD results went up against I'm a Celeb but the results of SCD always seem to lose a bit of its audience (in contrast this is when X Factor usually gets its peak), anyway "... celeb" beat SCD results by .25 according to BARB.

The SCD results are just so fillerish!

I'd agree. The results of SCD never seem to have the tension of X Factor results either, even though SCD is more entertaining.

I nearly had a STROKE on Saturday when It was between Emma and that bitch from Eastenders...

    That's probably just me though.

Does anyone know if the 'dance off' was counted separately from the normal votes... I mean if it wasn't it really was very pointless indeed!

It wasn't. Tess mentioned that all the votes would be combined.

They do waste a lot of time - do we really need the professionals dancing, then again to the 'live' act? Combine the two at least.

The first series wasn't up against X Factor, wasn't it around March/April of 2004? No idea what was on ITV at that time...

I prefer watching the Sunday repeat. It's nice and compact.

I feel a bit sorry for Bunton what with her album tanking. Hopefully she pulls off a miracle and beats Matt 'I'm a cunt' Dawson to the final.

Apparently Fergie (Ie the Duchess of York rather than that pissy cunt chav) is going to be appearing on the next American series!

I'm surprised it's taken Fergie this long to do reality TV!

MARK AND KAREN TO WIN! They stole the series with that last dance! And Karen's so lovely...

That was, for me, undoubtedly the best dance of the series - if not all four series. It was mesmerising, the choice of music worked, the facial expressions, the almost 'evil' look they had, the movement, the lifts. You could see Len and Bruno all excited in the background!

It was absolutely sensational, yes! MY stomach was in knots.

Here's hoping for a Mark Vs Emma final - with Mark winning.

Oh and :D @ Arlene. "I just want raw sex" - better than an ENTIRE DVD compilation of Simon Cowell comments! Classic. :D :D

    Errrr.... anyway!

i think EMMA is rubbish. Sorry but she just doesn't convince me at all, not anywhere near the standard mark has reached, and even matt.

    EMMA TO GO.

To be fair, Emma was probably as technically good in the first few weeks as Matt is now.

I think if you hate her its much more honest to find her bland and uninspiring - a camp which i vaguely empathise with.

    huh?

i don't hate emma, i just don't think she's as good as mark or matt when it comes to the overall product. she's a scruffy dancer and i'm not convinced by her 'elegance'.

Matt didn't deserve to be in the final, he was shit. But finally the public gave in and chose not to vote for Emma because she's a Spice Girl, the negative publicity finally relented for her.

I'll be voting for Mark & Karen too.

Feels a but limp having just two couples in the final tho - the producers shot themselves in the foot not dealing with the Jimmy Tarbuck problem the moment it occured.
