Part 3 in the exciting rage of topics about High Street eateries.

I do succumb to the urge for a Subway now and again, although far less than you'd think despite living and working within 5 minutes of branches of Subway. The vegetables often feel a bit plasticy and the presentation can often leave a lot to be desired.

I've largely weaned myself off them. I was getting them every Thursday, as where I work then has pretty much nothing else to offer, other than cheap newsagent packet sandwiches.

Although I don't think Subway are particularly expensive, you can get much nicer sandwiches for similar price elsewhere, if you have the choice. I didn't have the choice of buying it elsewhere, so I make sure I take a packed lunch on Thursdays now.

I don't have them often but I do love a Subway. Italian BMT on honey oat bread, extra cheese, toasted, lettuce, onions, olives and southwest sauce. They're also a great alternative to a McDonald's after a night out.

Anyone who's having sweetcorn on it should be shot.

I have a Subway every now and then but unless it's a tuna or meatball (which I haven't had in years) everything else tastes a bit like cardboard.

When I do, it's invariably an Italian BMT on hearty Italian, with cheese and toasted, with red onion, gherkin and olives, and sweet onion sauce.

Oh it's Spicy Italian on Hearty Italian toasted with cheese, onions, olives, gherkins and lettuce with whatever sauce tickles my fancy (inevitably it's honey and mustard). I always regret adding tomatoes to the veg mix as it's never dignified.

I have a subway about 4 times a year when I go to play snooker, in lieu of a proper dinner. It does the job.

Bit annoyed they seem to have gotten rid of teriyaki chicken and replaced it with rottiserie chicken though.

I don't have a Subway that often either, but it's a nice change from time to time. The teriyaki is quite nice. And I like their white chocolate cookies.

I do get a bit annoyed when they seem confused by my "no cheese, no toasted" preference. Sorry, why exactly would I want double cheese with my chicken?

When they first hit the UK many moons ago I ate them all the time. Steak and cheese on hearty italian footlong, salad, jalepenos, southwest sauce.

Haven't had one in years though. Like all food of its type, I'm hungry an hour later.

Why exactly wouldn't you want double cheese with everything?

If I ever get double cheese it's peppered cheese.

There are more Subways (2300) in the UK now than Costas, McDonalds and Greggs, which doesn't surprise me.

More often than not they forget to charge for double cheese so it's worth going for.

I really want one now and yes, they hardly keep hunger at bay for long.

I don't get it- it's actually FOUL. The bread cooking smells of SICK and the way it gets SLAPPED together is hideous.

I tend to succumb to one every couple of years out of desperation or going along with someone else and inevitably remind myself of how entirely unworthy it is...

I always make sure that my sub is made with love. If the filling doesn't gently caress the white fluffy loveliness, I'm not paying.

You can still buy "teriyaki chicken" but they just put normal chicken in and slap some teriyaki sauce on. It's just not the same.

i don't mind subway but i rarely ever have it these days. it's just not very good and as has been mentioned their vegetables always seem to be the worst you can find in the 10 km radius.

i'd always get the same one too - "tuna" on brown bread with cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce and a little bit of mayo.

Oh don't tell ME about it. My office is UPWIND of an EVER-INCREASING NUMBER OF FAST FOOD OUTLETS and it's a tossup which is worse: the VOMIT BREAD smell from Subway, the EYE-PEELING garlic and ginger combo from WOK & GO or the RANCID FAT CLOUD from the CHICKEN SHOP

But at Subway I prefer the six inch.

I don't have a "regular" sub as the staff at what used to be my local branch had started second-guessing my order I was in there so much so I changed it up just out of paranoia.

But yes possibly my favourite fast food option and number one choice for hangovers.

It really is the most mediocre sandwich around. But if I have to, I get the chicken, bacon, avo no cheese, with all the veg xtra jalepeno, honey mustard on the flatbread.

Getting it in the salad form makes you realize how truly awful the quality of their vegetables is

As a vegetarian who isn't big on salad (which I realise is my choice/fault) Subway is a total flop - some LUDICROUS price for a bit of bread and a hideous dry veggie pattie with the consistency of a corkboard, a little HINT of sauce and some plastic cheese. THANKS but if I'm in the mood to choke to death I'll do it at home FOR FREE

Oh I love it. Has to be a foot long too and could then eat another. I always go for the brown bread one.
I am quite partial to the salad boxes too when I am trying to eat less bread. They really are quite massive and filling for a salad
