I have been listening to this for the past few weeks more and more and it's, for me, definitely their best album.

Control Of The Knife being my current pick :disco: also Girl Overboard is gay coma frenzy! That middle 8!!

It's GREAT but it's still only their third best album for me...

I've found it's an amazing album to do your housework to.

    1. Out Of Control (Kick off the last two tracks and you actually have an ALL KILLER NO FILLER selection. Well, bar "Fix Me Up")...
    2. What Will The Neighbours Say?
    3. Tangled Up
    4. Chemistry (Too contrived...)
    5. Sound of the Underground

    I BLOODY LOVE IT.

Although i've not listened to it in ages, so i might try and make it my first full album listen of 2011. There's certainly worse ways to herald in a new dawn.

Albums wise i'd rank them -

    1. Tangled Up
    2. What Will The Neighbours Say
    3. Chemistry
    4. Sound of the Underground
    5. Out of Control

but really there's not one they should be ashamed of.

Listening to Girls Aloud albums just makes you angry at the person who decided Cheryl should have a solo career :(

One of my all-time Top 10 albums! :o Proper good stuff, and not just '...for a prefab pop album'.

"Girl Overboard" the standout behind the monumental "Call the Shots", although in a way I prefer it to remain this lost gem, it's a fanbase track more than anything. Had it been a single, it's likely to have had a disappointing "Long Hot Summer"-stylee 7-18-33-OUT chart run - I can't see it appealing to many members of the casual audience. Certainly not ones who have crossed the age bracket of 25/30 (and don't like cock).

Really? Everyone went mental over ‘Somethin’ Kinda Ooooh’ and I think they’re pretty similar songs?

Well, that's my theory fucked then :D If I'm clutching at straws, I could say SKO with its sheer nonsense lyric is a bit more universally appealing, while the heartbreak-heavy "Girl Overboard" is quite specifically tailored for young gay men?

The Tangled Up Tour - Live from the O2 DVD is worth it alone for Nicola's sulking in the backstage interviews "all the girls were saying the tour was so hard on them emotionally but NOBODY CARED I just came out of a two-year relationship".

However, the caterwauling on "With Every Heartbeat (Live Acoustic)" is less deserving of parting with your hard-earned pennies :gross:

"With Every Heartbeat"? I'm sure it's on my Tangled Up DVD, it's on the B-side of "Can't Speak French" so it would make sense it was performed around that time.

    OH YEAH. SORRY!

What shoddy cover did they do on the Out Of Control tour then?

Also I think SKO, wonderful as it is, has got a bit of a brainless chav-dance-Radio 1 VIBE. Girl Overboard is just full on GAY. It's basically their "Your Disco Needs You" and best left hidden

Anyway this album is marvellous, definitely their best although there's really not much between this, Out of Control and Neighbours. Also I can't think of another album of theirs that if you remove all the singles, still has a potential new set left there - Close To Love, Girl Overboard, Control of the Knife, Black Jacks etc. A personal highlight is "Crocodile Tears" though which seems to go on forever with multiple verses/choruses only like Biology only in emotional upbeat balladry form which is frankly GLORIOUS and the perfect end.

SKO grabs you by the throat from the first second and doesn't let go. It's relentless from start to finish. 'Girl Overboard' is good, VERY good, but it doesn't come close.

Never seen it myself, but Wiki suggests a double whammy of "Broken Strings" and "Womanizer"!

Yes, that's precisely what I meant. Any old drunken lout can get on board with "jumping on my tutu" but it takes a certain penchant for DRAMA to appreciate lines like "somewhere along I played it wrong, fell into a world so far from home" :(

Tangled Up is quite a fantastic album. It's back to being #1 for me now that OOC has levelled off in my affections:

    01 Tangled Up
    02 Out Of Control
03 What Will The Neighbours Say
    04 Chemistry
    05 Sound Of The Underground

Girl Overboard is properly fantastic and up there with their very best, definitely in my GA top 5. Control Of The Knife isn't far behind, nor is Close To Love.

    In fact:

09 Call The Shots (I never quite got the love heaped upon it, it's very good, but they've done better)
    10 Close To Love
    09 Sexy! No No No...
    10 Girl Overboard
    07 Can't Speak French
    08 Black Jacks
    10 Control Of The Knife
    07 Fling
    07 What You Crying For
    06 I'm Falling
    07 Damn
    08 Crocodile Tears

It's really only the Fling/What You Crying For/I'm Falling combo that I sometimes skip but it's not BAD at all. There should be a rank of some sort of ALL their songs, I'm sure most of moopy know them

When I was young I wanted to be a PUNKROKKA
    But everybody said NO

One of the few :manson:worthy try-hard lyrics on this album, otherwise Miranda Cooper really came into her own as a wordsmith.

    And let's not forget:

    Je ne parle pas français
Alors laisse le funky music nous faire danser
    :french:

Still their best ever album and this evening's impromptu and very sexy routines to 'Girl Overboard' say EVERYTHING. And here comes 'Can't Speak French' :disco:

Oh the wonders Xenomania worked with five girls who had BARELY AN OCTAVE BETWEEN THEM!
