Is it my browser or does the WTA tour website not even have a live score function anymore? Not that the one they had was any good. And everyone uses the app these days anyway. Even if it's just me, the (relatively) new website is still quite rubbish and I hope they didn't pay much for it. Can't they just copy the ATP tour website? I hope Stacey comes back to fix it.

    Australian Open started today.

It's been a bad day for the Americans with Venus Williams, Sloane Stephens, Vandeweghe, Isner and Sock all gone. Much better for the Brits with 100% of those in action winning. Also easy wins for Nadal, Dimitrov, Wozniacki and Svitolina.

Roger showed an incredible game! He is a real example of an athlete of dolphins pearl site who lives his own sport. The pride of Switzerland and the whole tennis world

I'm watching as well. And the coverage is really pissing me off - every break Clare Balding telling me what's going on on the other courts. If I wanted to know, I'd go on the red fucking button. As it is, I don't, and I don't particularly enjoy missing the start of the next game of the match I AM watching. OR the possibility of seeing Wawrinska or Dimitrov changing their shirts, you big old Lesley.

They're trying to have a Wimbledon fun-day at work but with Andy Murray pulling out, no-one gives a shit any more.

Coric out, Federer has a seemingly easy draw to the QF at least. But with his form at Halle, you never know.

Was she sick? Cos I was really hoping she'd do well, and she'd been playing pretty awesomely the last fortnight.

She seemed a little drained but Sasnovich is a very tricky 1st round, she's a good player though still would've expected Petra to get through.

Sharapova out too, finished with a double fault. Surprised she blew a 7-6 5-2 lead.

    Kerber-Williams SIGN ME UP.

Whereas the prospect of Isner in a Wimbledon final makes me want to vomit.

I really do loathe John Isner. He has such an entitled look about him as well as being the most boring player to watch.

This really is the most predictable, boring match. They might as well have just tossed a coin and saved us all the bother.

If some divine force can't bring this match to an end, couldn't it at least throttle John fucking Inverdale?

He's a fucking arse. Azarenka was dragging his terrible commentary on Instagram last night. I've no idea why the BBC use him, he is universally loathed.

There have been twice as many breaks of serve in this second set now than the entire Isner/Anderson match.

Not really a surprise is it? Serena has had so little match time. I'd back her to keep getting better and have a good shot in the US Open. Happy for Kerber.

Well all of the experts in the run up (on BBC) were saying it was Williams' to lose

Has Kerber only now not won the US open out of the grand slams?

She has never won the French, can't see her doing it. Just the wrong opponent and gamestyle for Serena to run into so early in her comeback for a massive final. Amazing Serena is on court at this level already, she'll only go better if the body behaves. Kudos to Kerber played a very good second week.

I had to miss the final as I had other plans so just catching up now. Their speeches at the end were lovely.

Agreed and I was pretty surprised by how many thought this was "Serena's to lose". Kerber has always shown up in Slam finals and was going to give Serena so many and so many different balls across the court that she'd have her hands full even if she had been less nervous and flat-footed at times. Serena will get 24 pretty soon though if her body cooperates.

Kerber on clay is a funny thing - I thwarted the Career Slam idea earlier but I've done a bit of thinking and honestly - she wasn't too terrible on it in Rome and Paris. Her draw would have to open up but whackier things have happened. I still lean towards "Nope" but it's not as resounding as it thought it would be, even if her stroke production is not made for heavier clay at all. She needs to back herself on it mentally though.

Well if a French draw opened up for her I agree she is capable but all things being relatively normal I don't see it. It's actually quite incredible and a testament to her hard work she has 3 slam titles to her name, prior to that random US Open run in 2011 there was really nothing to suggest Angie would amount to more than a WTA also ran.

I’m only half watching this. As far as I’m concerned, both singles finals were finished yesterday.

    Fair point.

I read a quote from the Guardian live commentary that said the unending final set (as in that of the Anderson v Isner match) is tennis's own natural selection in the way that it weeds out the big servers (those that solely rely on that aspect of their game) and stops them from going on to win the thing. I think that is BANG ON.
