I had forgotten all about the random Windows 7 adverts the Sugababes 4.0 did near the end of their demise...

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zND0_29t-z4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

...but it all came flooding back with this wonderful analysis :D

    http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/martyn-hett/sugababes-windows-7-advert_b_11350282.html

Not only are they making a godawful homemade card in Microsoft Word, but they appear to be making it on the DAY of Jade's birthday, whilst simultaneously searching for a gift that they have yet to even choose, let alone purchase.

The fave in question here is M.I.A., I still have no idea why she did this

    Edit: aside from money, ofc

now Jessie J is FAR from being my fave act but I did cringe when this came out (I believe she did have stans during this period)

Once again very far from a favourite, but still jaw-droppingly terrible.

Not an act and everyone hates her, but this is iconic for being the most ill judged bit of promo.

That killed her stone dead, didn't it? Thus leaving the road clear for Adele....Pop historians fond of the "what if?" trope could spend a wee bit of time with that...

I don't understand what happened to Duffy's voice to make it so utterly hideous there and on everything she did subsequently.

I'm listening to Rockferry (the song) now and she sounds lovely on that. Maybe it was a case of very flattering production values on that first album.

Cher's infomercial with ex friend Lorie Daves still isn't up online again yet, but these are fun:

She ditched her management and production team before the second album which seems like a crazy thing to do given the success of the debut. There must have been plenty going on behind the scenes for that to happen.

I always thought this was a pretty horrible tie-in, even if the advert itself was funny.

Spice Girls/Tesco is one of my fave celeb endorsements ever, I loved the ads :D

Although I note that clearly no one from Tesco ever heard Christmas Wrapping or the whole deal would've gone up in flames

The Tesco ads were great! It's not like the Spice Girls were ever above a slightly low-rent endorsement even at their peak.

That's the first time seeing that Duffy advert since it was on originally and the voice really is BIZARRE. It's painful. Doesn't even sound in tune... very strange.

I love the idea that Tina Turner represents a new generation.

The Spice Girls Tescos adverts were actually really good. It could have come off as terrible but I think it all worked.

But M.I.A was kinda cool for 5 minutes and association with a by then deeply uncool Madonna was clearly for the £££.

Mind you, I'm sure endless female artists aspire to Madonna and working with her as is good as they'll get.

Based on 'Birthday Song', I'm still convinced M.I.A.'s whole involvement was pure trolling. I bet she was beside herself when poor clueless old Madge actually put it on the album.
