er HI. I am officially Lou's biggest fan on Moopy, sorry VoR
10 Undivided Love
10 Let's Go Round Again (Rated PG Rated)
10 Shut Up & Kiss Me
10 All Around The World
08 Just When I Thought
08 All That Mattered
07 In Walked Love
Even in her solo career black women did all the heavy lifting for her, but the joyous Paula Abdul-lite accessibility of Naked (boasting her biggest bumps since her nose) and the Britney-before-Britney Undivided Love ("oh won't you..." er SING on your own song?) are ludicrous peaks by any pop princess next door's standards. More tip-toeing around her limitations than transcending them, when Louise was esteemed by songs as good as these it's hard not to hold her in the same breath as Billie Piper and maybe even Samantha Mumba. You wouldn't exactly think "what a waste" if she were working in a petrol station asking if you'd like a giant Galaxy with that, but accessibility goes a long way, and the fact that she could dance was a neat distraction. Once the killer hooks vanished quicker than a faceless Kéllé_Bryan1953@hotmail.com email to Simon Cowell, it was time to do up her top 5 blouse buttons and try to not get fired from TV shows for being shit. Lord knows the gloop that her albums hide, but above is an exceedingly pleasing list of 10 amazing pop songs, skimmed from pretty much 2.5 albums, only In Walked Love limps in at less than 8/10, and even Light of My Life with her thin vocal chills was something of a 'moment' if Live & Kicking was your number 1 source of new music at the time. It's also telling that when this willing mouth-piece did 'fierce' is was labelled PG.
I own an official Louise mug from her 'Changing Faces' theatre tour so eat it.
As reported elsewhere, I bought her first two albums in a charity binge this summer.
And I'm still bitter at their utter awfulness
Ah come on...'The Best That You Bring', 'Running Back For More', 'Woman In Me', 'Healing Love', 'When Will My Heart Beat Again?', 'Reminds Me Of You', 'Shut Up & Kiss Me' all MAXIMAL NURD. Though the Japanese extra track 'Distraction' is the best.
'Elbow Beach' is sublime.
I'm not sure my jelly is ready for MAXIMAL NURD
Does no-one like "Two-Faced" any more
In short - YES.
I'm all for loving something for turning being shit into an artpop extravaganza, but Louise's execution is like adding water to wine. I got the album for Betty Boo's contribution, but what a shocking nil value pop album.
Really? I genuinely enjoy 'EB'.
I have the blue one from the tour sponsored by Soft & Gentle. I had a front row ticket.
Woman In Me is the best album, if a tad long. Naked is alright, I never really got into Elbow Beach but I did love the singles from it.
Has anyone heard any of the songs from the 4th aborted album?
Kala wins again.
Yup - they're not bad. Pandora's Kiss really wasn't representative of it all.

Woman In Me is a WONDERFUL 90s pop album and I won't hear a word to the contrary.
10 Arms Around The World

09 Woman In Me

08 Who Do You Love?
09 Don't Be Shy - I love how this is a total Universal (Suitable For All) version of Janet Jackson's 'Throb'.
10 Running Back For More - Alongside Reminds Me Of You, THIS is the album's ultimate lost hit.
07 Love Will Bring You Back To Me
The other two are a bit fillerish but certainly have their moments.

Oh and the Greatest Hits Megamix is audiogasmic.
I remember phoning Louise's record company pretending to be from Radio Clyde and telling them they needed to release Reminds Me Of You as a single. Fat lot of good that did. Should have been the fourth single.
I'll cue it up for another spin!
Tell it like it IS, VoR. Cracking album.
'The Best That You Bring' remains my all time highlight.
I'm thinking perhaps we need to resurrect a Louise thread for this...
I love the idea of Kala subtly influencing the pop industry over the past twenty years using phone-based subterfuge and letter-writing campaigns
I don't even HAVE 'The Best That Your Bring' anymore.
Back in the day I used to phone the record companies CONSTANTLY to find out release dates etc. This was when I was still at school and before we had internet. I had a particular OBESSSION with Dana Dawson. (RIP)
Not up there with Kala's impressive feats, but I once ran up a £80 phonebill to an 0891 number and my parents confronted me thinking I'd been calling porny chat services only for me to reveal it was Stock and Aitken's Love This hotline and I'd been listening to 'No Surrender' by Deuce on repeat purely to hear the group introduce themselves at the start of it.
Mike Flowers' Pops' 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' and Tatjana's 'Santa Maria' were also favourites.
Oh I remember that hotline! I called it a few times. However when a HUGE bill came in, it was for a different type of phone line.
I own all of the Louise albums (all bought for less than £3, I can assure you) and I couldn't tell you a THING about any of the album tracks.
1. Arms Around the World
2. Undivided Love
4. 2 Faced
5. One Kiss From Heaven (where is the love for this one?)
6. In Walked Love
7. Let's Go Round Again
8. All That Matters
9. Light of My Life
10. Beautiful Inside
That's a far better list of pop singles than PIXIE LOTT has to her name.
Thanks babe I take it as a massive compliment
Reminds Me Of You (and Woman In Me generally) is nothing more that moderately pleasant at best.
The Best That You Bring remains a slice of towering majesty.
I love that Louise can still coax Kratz out of semi Moopy retirement!
I like to think that at the height of his political career Kratz used to perform a boudoir version of One Kiss from a Ministerial Position (Parliament remix)
I had this happen when listening to snippets of Whitney's My Love Is Your Love and Hole's Celebrity Skin via advertisements on Channel 4's Planet Sound teletext magazine.
Scary thing was I actually owned the CD single at the time so really had no need to be doing such a thing.
Using Deuce to pretend to your parents you were straight is actually impressive.
oh I didn't even notice but yes THAT TOO
There's nothing like a spot of Crazy to waken one up in the morning. Clearly being a part of Crazy's collective "whoooooooooooo!" (like someone brought out the biscuits at the Bennett's bible group) is Louise's defining moment.
Louise commented on Eternal doing this in The Times. Seems she wasn't asked. I don't mind, Eternal the trio were my favourite Eternal.
"I'm not doing it because I haven't spoken to the girls in, God, 15 years, and I found out they were doing it via the producers of the programme"
Was that odd? "Yeah, it was really weird, if one of them had rang then I would have said "I think we should sing together again because it would be such a shame not to, but let's do it on our own.".. "The whole reality TV thing doesn't sit comfortably with me, I think Eternal were about great music - I don't want to have to deal with the bits in between, the interviews and that." "But they'll be great on the Big Reunion, they're such talented girls", She adds " And the last thing I want is to be negative towards them, some of the best years of my life were in Eternal"
