I walk past that ugly MEPs office on the way back home every day. The man appears to have some sort of deity-like status in the village. It's like living in UKIPville.

That's a terrible result for Labour and hardly all that surprising.

Terrible for Labour tbh. Yes there was the nuclear issue, and they put a remain candidate in for Labour, but this is the first true by election test of Corbyn's leadership and it was a failure.

It is bad when Labour were campaigning on the NHS. I lived in Copeland as a child and my brother was born in the maternity unit they want to close. It was a FUCKING LONG WAY from our village to that hospital, having to go AS FAR AGAIN just doesn't bear thinking about

I thought Labour were actually going to pull it through in the end because of that, especially when Theresa May went there and still wouldn't guarantee to keep it open - it was basically a free chance for the locals to vote Labour to say they wanted to keep it, especially given there's no chance in hell Corbyn's going to ever be in a position to shut down Sellafield. All that and still a 2,000 majority for the Tories. No words.

Congrats to the Lib Dems for their two council by elections wins last night.

Thrilled that Squire Nuttall is now a five time Parliamentary reject. Only three more elections to stand in and he'll trump Farage but still has a way to go to beat Screaming Lord Sutch's record.

Just when we thought it was over, Gerald Kaufman has died. Another labour seat for reelection.

Slack jawed Douglas Carswell, who caused a by election three years ago when he left the Tories for UKIP, is apparently planning on rejoining the Tories, after Nigel Farage was angry with him for stopping him becoming Sir Nigel and wants him thrown out of UKIP as punishment.

They're all deeply odious but I quite enjoyed Carswell throwing a bit of FLAWLESS SHADE at Farage. The thought of the man of the people's immense hurt at "an OBE for services to headline writers" amused me.

I'm guessing Manchester Gorton has a significant muslim population because none other than the indefatigable cat and hat enthusiast and noted Brexiteer George Galloway has decided to stand in the by election. He's 12.00 to win with Labour 1.08 and the Lib Dems 7.00.

Green were second last time in that seat apparently. Although who am I stand in the way of the Lib Dems anti-Brexit comeback train?!

For better or worse, British politics has rarely been less predictable.

Why would Mancunians be interested in Brexit? Palestine gets two mentions because it's clearly where the election will be won or lost.

Galloway is absolute filth. I know Martin McGuiness killed people, but Galloway should have died instead.
