Mutant horror film, Anya Taylor Joy is Magick, Maisie Williams is Wolfsbane and will also feature Cannonball, Susnpot, Mirage and Cecilia Reyes.

I'm hoping 2018 is a good year for the X-Men as we're getting two films (three if you count Deadpool).

Different for an X-men movie, but it looks a bit generic horror movie at the moment. I wonder how they are going to set it all up...

Is this based on the Demon Bear story?

Will any X-Men character be making a cameo? hopefully NOT Wolverine or is it not going to be connected to the Marvel Universe at all?

Yes the new mutants are considered X-men. No wolverine cameo but maybe X-23 since this also looks like a dystopia so maybe similar timelines.

    If only!

Based on that trailer alone, I can't get very excited at all. We've seen that "creepy figure bulging through rubber walls" so often before (hello Nightmare On Elm Street 1!) and they had the gall to push that twice in this trailer!

    IT'S A NO FROM ME

    LOL...now we’re only getting Deadpool in 2018 :(

Dark Phoenix has been pushed to February 2019 for reshoots (they’re claiming the delays in reshoots is because the cast is so busy elsewhere and they can’t meet the original release date) and New Mutants got pushed again to August 2019 as they want to reshoot 50% of the movie and add more characters.

    It doesn’t look good.

While they're at it they can recast Cannonball. He just looks wrong.

It looks far more generic than I was hoping for, but I'll still be going to see it. I adored the original comics back in the 80s!

I have seen it and can confirm that it is not the worst x-men movie. It’s very small in scope but the cast is good and there are some good moments.

Although there’s zero budget I absolutely loved it.

Some of the best characterisation and faithfulness to source material in all of the X-Universe (FAINT PRAISE I KNOW). It was essentially Dream Warriors though.

I loved the cast and they had great chemistry. Illyana is an absolute queen and ‘Berto was VERY HOT.

It felt like a tv pilot. Has promise but needs work.

Hoping for a WELCOME TO PRIMETIME BITCH moment :disco:

Is this only in the cinema, or are they doing one of those on demand rentals like with Mulan? I'm not sure I want to go back to the cinema yet, and it'd be just my luck for a screening of this CURSED FILM to be where I contract coronavirus :eyes:

It sounds like it’ll be on demand within weeks, the contractual stuff between Fox & Disney meant it HAD to have a cinematic release and it’s already been shown at some places with less restrictions in the US so it’s been fulfilled. It won’t be on Disney+ just to add to the confusion though :D

This was alright, not terrible but not great either. And definitely not the worst X-Men movie (hello Apocalypse & Dark Phoenix). 5/10

Nowhere near the train-wreck that the constant delays would suggest. It's just really boring, and all their 'powers' were laughably crap. I honestly had flashbacks to that episode of Family Guy where Meg gains the power to grow her fingernails when Maisie Williams started scratching the CGI bear at the end. :D

The overall wackiness of that last 20 minutes redeemed it somewhat, and at least the plot was fairly coherent. But Christ, for a short movie that first hour dragged...
