Please let him die soon, preferably this week or perhaps even this evening or ideally within the next ten minutes :disco:

    God knows he DESERVES TO

As much as I;d rather see him HUMPED in 2020, he's too fucking dangerous so I'll take a coronary on December 25th please so I can make all the jokes about the 3 ghosts who visited him taking it all a bit too far.

We're on for Mugabe, Trump as well might be a bit of a big ask, although if we're asking, we might as well ask for the odd Tory grandee to pop their clogs while we're at it.

Norman Tebbit would be nice. Him and Mugabe would leave me only two behind Indie and Mugatu in the Moopy Deathlist.

Jacob Rees-Mogg gored to death by a charging bull while he’s out killing baby foxes would be quite the winner for Boxing Day laughs :disco:

Michael Gove stands too near the Christmas tree and catches fire. All that grease, he goes up like a fucking firework, had to identify him from dental records and a two-inch square of what turned out to be scorched anus.

I'm offering critical support for Robert Mugatu against my Deathlist challengers but I'd like to get rid of Henry Kissinger and if possible, Thatcher again.

On Michael Cohen pleading guilty to lying to Congress about Trump's business interests in Russia.

Like the heaps of greying processed meat inside his small intestine, Trump is intractable.

There's no clever procedural trick to get rid of him that wouldn't get blocked by the Republicans, this is all fantasy. I can't see any way of him getting removed from office without losing an election.

And it's not like that dumb tweet isn't correct figuratively, at least. All of these beloved "norms" and unwritten rules were going to fail as soon as someone realised they could exploit how poorly they get enforced. American democracy has been fucking diseased for decades at this point.

Apparently now on the verge of hiring his own Son in law (Jared Kushner) as White House Chief of Staff, after struggling to find anybody outside the immediate family willing to take the job. :D

Can someone explain to me what exactly a 'government shutdown' comprises? How can there be no operational government?!

    Very roughly:

It's what happens when the government can't unanimously agree on a budget. Trump insisted on funding the wall, while the Democrats (and some Reps I think) refused. So a "government shutdown" was called because neither side was willing to compromise. This is especially bad because ALL federal employees go unpaid during a shutdown. So there IS an operational government, but they have to work for FREE.

But Nancy Pelosi has ended the shutdown by passing a bill that bypassed the wall mess and reinstated a budget.

Now Trump is FURIOUS because he's been ignored and now HE wants to bypass government and fund the wall some other way.

Is he seriously going to call a state of emergency to try and fund that bloody wall?

I thought he was just going to PayPal the invoice to the Mexicans

I had thought that although the House of Representatives passed Nancy's bill, the Senate rejected it?

There is a feeling of spiralling out of control at the moment.

That's pretty much what I got from it. What I don't understand however is, how is not paying federal employees the solution? I just don't GET amurekah

under normal circumstances it seems to be a clever mechanism to encourage compromise when negotiating (and probably even more so in a two-party system). no sensible politician would risk the wrath of 800,000 employees for some pennies on this and that. the fuddle now, though, is that these are speshul times and compromise and sense aren't on the menu, Trump only likes cheeseburgers and walls

not passing a state budget and refusing to re-negotiate would surely also have some kind of consequence in France or Denmark... but our multi-party systems are perhaps less vulnerable to that situation?

Well it's also because all federal salaries are PART of that budget so until it's sorted nobody gets anything.

They should have just gone on strike. How's THAT for motivation?

So what I don't get is why these 800,000 people are still working if they aren't getting paid!!?

My guess is probably because torgovernm shutdowns happen suddenly and quickly. There's no time to plan strikes etc

He's absolutely not going to let this go, is he... It'll either be his undoing or we're about to enter full dictator territory.

Not long. I'm hearing from a lot of people that their federal worker relatives/friends are already not showing up to work/looking for other jobs. At this rate there won't be a government to go BACK TO
