Announced today - remixes and a video on the way.

Probably the best choice I'd say for what I imagine is the final single. Should be another Radio Two staple and it's a fan favourite. They're back early September for Proms in the Park and I imagine another batch of promo.

    Not chart-wise.

Loitered around the iTunes top 100 for a good few weeks and probably is what kept the album floating rather than sinking, but no major success except airplay.

Story Of A Heart was a big airplay success by their standards.

It did feel like it was all a bit of an afterthought though. Which is a shame.

I think they got as much out of it as could realistically be expected in 2017. A few decent TV spots, heavy radio 2 support, kept the album ticking over... What else could they have done?

I've lost interest in this comeback shockingly quickly. I'm not sure I'm even that bothered about seeing them live. I think I burnt myself out in the OH MY FUCKING GOD IT'S #1 ON ITUNES!!!!!!! thread :(

Mind you, there's still time to regain enthusiasm and whip up a 'Deeper Shade Of Blue' PVC suit :disco:

For some reason I keep thinking that H is about to DIE. Never mind, we'll bin Lee after the funeral and the three lovely ladies can be the NEW BANANARAMA (or Baccara if Lisa is too stricken with grief and doesn't fancy it)

They got as much as they ever could out of a second single, surely. In a way it's a shame because it didn't feel like SOAH reached full potential, but unless it was the first single, it never was going to. And I can see entirely why they went for Scared Of The Dark.

I think I was just surprised that given the impeccable planning and timing of the first single, that the second single was a bit like "here's the airplay...quick here's the remixes two weeks later and we'll get a halfhearted video out on the cheap asap"

Wasn't there an official remix video of SOAH released only a week or so ago?

Yep just about a week ago.

I think it all possibly felt like a bit mis-managed for a second single campaign because the album started to sink. So by week six it was already leaving the top 40. Totally expected for a heritage act, but I think they probably shoved it to radio much earlier than they wanted to given the video didn't come until after it had finished its five odd week run on the airplay top 40.

This time might be a bit more in sync.

Perfect choice. Remember though guys, it's not 1999 where every single was promoted as well as the debut. Second singles onwards are just to keep albums ticking over generally, especially for this sort of act.

Looking forward to this one - love the song, was the standout on the album for me apart from the lead single

I think this was probably the obvious single choice. It isn't my favourite on the album now, but it is very instant and I imagine radio (well Radio 2, unless anyone else plays Steps) giving it plenty of spins. The vocals are spread around a bit, which will keep Lee and H happy, without featuring them too heavily, because who really wants that?

Loving LSL giving the most attack to her bit of this acoustic, radio performance:

Played on Heat this morning. Couple of Radio two spins as well.

Surprised Heat never playlisted the last two, given they play them about 7-8 times a week with their old ones. Shame Heart and the likes haven't bothered either. I mean, Radio Two is the big one, but a few of these others adding one would possibly see it top 20 on airplay which would be fabulous.

I'd been finding H a lot less objectionable this time around. But when I watched that Radio 2 clip FetchFugly posted above, I was somewhat reassuringly catapulted right back to a place of wanting to smack his fucking face in.

I was too busy marvelling at how she could open her eyes without tipping her head back, such must be the weight of those eyelashes.

Radio edit of Neon Blue is definitely just the tweak it needed.

Bless LSL, such GUSTO. Bad timing that the woman sat behind her starts pissing herself laughing seconds after she begins singing.

Third remix in a row for 7th Heaven. Not quite as good as the last two, it sounds a little messy, in the chorus, but not sure if that's because the sound quality on this rip is low.

Video out tomorrow - premiering on This Morning.

Assuming the remix/single edit will be added to iTunes as well and perhaps onto the Radio Two playlist.

Too many shots of randoms but overall a very fitting video for the song.

LOVE how Lisa clearly thinks she's back in her Lately days during her second bridge.

A List on Radio 2 now.

Should be another top 30/40 airplay hit for them. Hopefully pushes a few more album sales - they passed 80k last week. With this and then the tour at Xmas they should hit Gold.

You'd have thought so. Hopefully Children In Need get them to do a classic Steps cover, hell let's even have a classic Steps double a-side with a cover and a brand new track on CD single while we're at it.
