I thought we had a thread but nothing came up when I searched for it. I read about The bloody Lighthouse Family in the Kylie thread and it reminded me I like the midweeks thread.

I know that Radio 1 have a chart update on a Wednesday? Does any other info just come from other forums? I seem to remember @Jark offering to post the updates, but if he doesn’t want to do it I would be happy to take over.

The OCC website posts the initial midweek chart on Mondays. For updates after that (and info about figures), I tend to look at ukmix or buzzjack where someone (usually Robbie) will post it - I assume someone who subscribes to music week, as I believe the info isn't available from any other source.

Does @Robbie still post here? Would he mind posting the info in here if he does?

He's not here that often. I think if we want it weekly, one of us who is here more often should do it.

I'm fairly certain Robbie has said before he doesn't mind if we copy something he has posted elsewhere. I think the general rule is that you credit where it came from if you nick it for yourself.

I don’t post on any other forums. I am having a look at buzzjack now and it doesn’t seem like I need to sign up for the info. I will keep an eye on it.

Is that the highest the Spice Girls Greatest Hits has been since the tour? I thought it would have dropped like a bomb by now.

A picture disc no less. And with 15 songs on it, absolutely guaranteed to sound like total shit.

I actually ordered it when it initially went on sale, because it was supposed to be limited. Then when they decided against that, I cancelled the order.

It's been like that for a while now. In no small part because with stores closing and supermarkets reducing their music offering , what they are offering is more and more of those 'safe' sellers.

I did wonder if it was streaming accounting for more, but ABBA Gold at least does poorly there.

I think streaming plays a big part as well because you don't need to stream a whole album just enough tracks for it to qualify - so if "Time Flies" is the only Oasis compilation on streaming (I think their b-sides comp is on there too) then it'll pick up a big chunk of their activity.

I've never actually hated Ed Sheeran before this album but it really is an absolute horror show menagerie of utterly meritless bullshit songs about being an outcast (but being very rich) or hating shallow people (but liking sexy girls) - some of the lyrics are absolutely frightful and weirdly misogynistic. It's quite shocking how merrily he's tossed aside any pretence of being an artist in order to conform and draw maximum streams. Gross.

While moopy is getting its chart geek on, I found this interesting from James Masterton:

It is worth noting the continuing presence of Lil Nas X's Old Town Road which is Number 7 for the fourth week in a row, all of which have come since it experienced its own relegation onto ACR. As one commenter noted, last week the four-month-old single was actually the most-purchased and most-streamed of the week and was only Number 7 due to the low conversion applied to those streams. It doesn't quite manage the trick this time around (Senorita easily tops both tables as a worthy Number One), but if the ACR rule had not been in place Old Town Roadwould this week be enjoying at the very least an unprecedented 11th week as the Number 2 single. It remains a quite extraordinarily popular hit record.

That the #1 song in terms of both sales and streaming only ended up at #7 does highlight (again) my issue with the chart now.

He also has this to say about Lizzo

Are we ever going to mention fun sized rapper Lizzo as anything more than a footnote? The larger than life American first rated a mention in these pages earlier this year when her enormously appealing track Juice made heavy work of a chart climb and enjoyed a solitary week of Top 40 glory at Number 38. Her latest track Truth Hurts has endured a similar steady wait, charting at Number 67 back in May and only making the Top 50 for the first time last week in its 10th week on the chart when it came to rest at Number 42. A five-place climb means it is now her second Top 40 hit and her highest charting single to date as well. She remains criminally underrated in this country, even if Juice was actually far more fun and a far better single than this rather pedestrian offering.

'Fun sized'? 'Larger than life'? Clearly ACHING to call her FAT.

Doesn’t fun-sized mean she is short? Like fun-sized Mars Bars?

Well that's what I'd think, but she's quite the opposite of short though, isn't she?

Quite apart from the fact her size is irrelevant anyway.

She's taller than Charli XCX but I have no idea what height CXCX is in the first place.

I quite fancy seeing Lizzo on tour actually - she's doing Glasgow, could be a good one.

(EDIT: Oh, it sold out in a flash - fair enough, can see why...)

3 songs in the Top 5, and sitting pretty at number 1 on 63.9k sales already in the albums chart. No signs of Ed Sheeran’s popularity waning then.

I mean, his last album sold 672k in week one. This one will do around 100k. So I'd sane that's a fairly reasonable fall off.

Either way it kind of feels like this is the era he'll reach saturation point and the tide of popularity will begin to turn, not helped by the fact that none of these hit singles will go down as great pop songs or even be remembered a year from now as they're all fundamentally shit.
