Do we have any updated midweeks??
didn't have chance yesterday but will do em later
Mariah #4 on Tuesday
I would absolutely LOVE for Mariah to make it. I have streamed it rather a lot this week just to do my bit.
I think she is going to fall short this week - I'll guess #3. But #1 next week.
Back up to #1 on Spotify yesterday with 465k streams. That's 100k up on the same date last year.
But doesn't that count like less sales with the new rule? I'm confused with those stupid rules. I hope you're right and she finally crowns the chart.
Oh yes - despite being streamed more, she will have 'sold' less.
I FUCKING HATE THE CHARTS.
I can’t believe we’ve been drawn into talking about streams as if they’re sales and what’s happening is completely normal.
Aren't official charts sort of irrelevant these days? Do they still make headlines in the UK media like they used to do in the good old days? Nobody gives a damn about this anymore (except for Mariah in Christmas).
I used to be a bit of a chart geek (when it was easy to follow) and always made sure I listened to the charts on a Sunday. I am not sure if it is AGE but I don’t have the first clue about the charts now. I think it is more down to the fact I don’t have a clue what is going on.
Christmas number 1 was such an EVENT.
No, I don't think many people give a shit any more. The Christmas #1 is no doubt bigger than any other, but that's a shadow of its former self.
Does Apple Music publish daily stats, like spotify does?
Why is everyone so focused on Mariah? Without streaming she wouldn't be in the conversation whatsoever.
I'm actually finding the Ava vs Ariana battle quite exciting. Two pop songs, no novelty shit and it's actually pretty damn close.
Nothing to do with the fact you have a vested interest in Ava?
But seriously, if you're all moaning that a song from over 20 years ago is being cruelly denied the #1 at the expense of a good pop song, you're on a hiding to nothing.
None of us have the same vested interest as you though. Mariah is our best hope for a classic Christmas song to get to number 1 for the first time. Far more exciting than Ava or Ariana for me.
So you're wondering why a group of chart geeks are potentially excited by the most loved Christmas song of a generation may be #1, when only compiling methodology has already denied it?
No, I get that. But it seems a bit pointless getting mad at streaming for keeping her off #1, when streaming is the only reason she's as high in the charts as she is at all.
Sweet But Psycho is a great *new* pop track. There's an actual race going on that's more exciting than anything we've had at Christmas for years and it feels like you're all overlooking it because you're so focused on the Mariah thing.
Ava’s IS a great track I have to give you that.
Yes, but I prefer AIWFCIY to both of those. They could be any other chart week.
The race is far more interesting to me firstly because Mariah is in it, and secondly because it's not a level playing field yet she's still in with a decent chance.
I think that Ava psycho thing is about as vanilla a track as I've seen Moopy wet itself over but I'm in my 40's and fundamentally out of touch with popular culture.
Ooh, it's getting interesting...

Who the HELL is LadBaby?
As far as I can gather, some kind of dad blogger?
I think we can all unite against THAT.
Tell me that's not an Starship cover.
It is, but with the lyric 'Rock n Roll' replaced with 'Sausage Rolls'.
Oh dear, it is. Seriously, WHAT IS THIS SHIT? Is this a joke? VoR made it up for sure!
That is horrendous.
What's the story behind LadBaby? I assume it's had a fair bit of hype to be a serious threat. It's still way ahead on iTunes.
It's a fundraiser for foodbanks, horribly enough.
And, of course, it is doing nothing on streaming.
Ava Max has surely got it in the bag then?
Oh that LadBaby thing really is disgusting. Not nice to say it but hopefully everyone responsible will be run over on Christmas Day
Why can’t they just wave a tin?
Honestly, the state of this country
I'm sorry but
Can’t believe anyone could be so cruel and wicked TBH. Poor man’s just a busy dad trying to live a normal life
What is VoR's vested interest in Ava Max?
She's big in Sweden.
she's had one hit there, does that really equate to being big?
