    Yes :(

They’ve narrowed it down to her, Carol Decker and the woman off Deacon Blue :(

I thought OUR SAM'S career died after the Bell's Palsy but who knew she was recording CHARITY POPPERS ANTHEMS 4 CHECHNYA as recently as 2017.

Possibly the worst charity record I've heard since Carol Decker & co committed hate crimes against 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'.

TBH I can’t even think of anyone from these poisoned isles who I’d want to represent us, not that this will stop me furiously moaning about whoever they DO send

She sings ON the cover version, so she must have approved it.

Some Nancy Drews have said it COULD be Fleur East as she has just posted a video on her social media accounts with the title 'Tomorrow it all begins...'

Is the UK announcing tomorrow..? :wired:
I thought we normally announce towards the end of the season?

Fleur just seems like somebody who is hopefully banded about as a name every single year (like Dannii inevitably used to) only for us to ACTUALLY be stuck with Sam Bailey :disco:

Maybe Sam is just the background singer? :side-eye: Nah, who do I want to fool, sorry!

I’d be all over Fleur. She’s not a big name, no, but we’re not going to get one of those and she is a great performer. If we can just get her a great song...

It's the same thing every year. We're relieved now, but in 2 months we'll WISH it was somebody as good as Sam Bailey. :D

I reckon we'll end up getting a budget Lewis Capaldi type this year myself.

That Fleur East video DEFINITELY doesn’t seem like the pre-cursor to a Eurovision announcement to me!

She’s said (albeit in the usual “answer to a leading question” way) that she would be up for it at some point though so let’s hope she doesn’t wait until her joints are knackered and has to croak her way through a “power” ballad.

I think sometimes people get WAY too hung up on the name aspect to be honest. It´s not like Duncan, Netta, Lena etc were known to anybody outside of their home countries or even big stars locally(AT ALL in some cases).

When you take big or current stars out of the question you are mainly going to be left with X Factor or The Voice type contestants, which...hey if they´ve made it down to the final few of thousands and can sing live isn´t THAT tragic to be honest if they get a good song and are still relatively young not/not unpleasant looking(truth).

Of course none of this will matter at the end of the day because this is the BBC we are talking about, so the song will be bland insipid 2004 style SHIT. :D

I expect she weaves in covers of classics including Heather Proud's 'Small' to stop the crowd looking a bit bored after the 19th round of 'Sax' :disco:

BREAKING: Stooshe announce ambitious 28 date UK arena tour plans.

“The demand was clearly there” explains the one who gets a bit shouty at the end of ‘Black Heart’.

I’ve only just discovered that kneesy Leo was on the panel of X Factor - The Band. In fact I had to look at Wiki to check whether they’d actually chosen a band :)

In fairness to poor not young, not pleasant looking Sam, the 'if we get a good song' bit is the biggest hurdle, isn't it?

    :D

It sounds so superficial but they´re just the correlations when you look at the majority of the winners/even top 5/10 placings of the last few years(which lets face it even THAT seems galaxies away for the UK at the moment).

I could actually get my head around the idea that the core skeleton staff at the BBC who work on this actually ARE enthusiastic(if mis-informed) about Eurovision and would love for the UK to do well, however their hands are simply tied by FUCK ALL budget and close-to-retirement higher ups who think that Good ´ol Englebert or a Great Gatsby tribute act are just the ticket.

For instance, weren´t Pixie Lott and Alexandra Burke vetoed a few years back in favour of Englebert and Bonnie? ::manson:

Poor old Sam :D Is she really that objectionable? For a country that in the last 20 years has sent a list of crud so deep that the bottom end has fossilized with the bones of Nicki French and Lindsay Dracass? For sending Electro fucking Velvet, Andy Abraham, the waitress they found in Pizza Express? The horror that was 2010? What precisely are we expecting here?

I know someone walking in a concussed drunken state from A&E straight onto the Eurovision stage without a clue what song they're about to amble about to is a step up from at least 50% of that shit, but at least the poor old cow can hold a note and would, presumably, deliver a basic ballad.

Not that I have any faith in them handing her something remotely useful to belt out but at least vocally she starts out with SOMETHING for god's sake.

Exactly, why have a plump-ish middle aged woman with a half decent (if a bit shouty) voice when you can have watered down real music with guitars and no tune serving as the piss break?

I really dread to think what nastiness they're cooking up with "all the best intentions for the UK" :gross:
