I definitely think that is within reach, it really is remarkable just HOW much he is likely to win by. He has run an excellent campaign, and even though I'm not convinced by his rhetoric, you really can't argue with those kind of numbers.
At this point Intrade reckons 375. <object width="500" height="500"><param name="movie" value="http://content.intrade.com/flash/us08/partner/loader.swf"/><param name="base" value="http://content.intrade.com/flash/us08/partner/"/><embed src="http://content.intrade.com/flash/us08/partner/loader.swf" base="http://content.intrade.com/flash/us08/partner/" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="500"/></object>
When it was first announced on BBC, nothing happened to me. But I was also watching Stewart and Colbert on Comedy Central live online and Stewart announcing the result actually set me off crying. I blame hormones.
John McCain said he was calling Obama up to congratulate him on his victory and the crowd booed, REPUBLICUNTS INDEED.
Oh what an utterly super night.Lots of americans and drunk people wanting to get in on the act were crying over each other at the union. I thought Dimbleby was really shit though. GOD BLESS AMERICA, WELL DONE POP!
Ooh I can watch online, AND HE'S SPEAKING Michelle's hair is good tonight. I was worried, it can go either way i find.
Congrats Obama The American people have massively fucked up putting in charge of the free world a man that wasn't even a junior senator in Illanois 3 years ago, he is embarrassingly under qualified for dealing with the recession, credit crunch, the global security situation and so on but I believe in democracy It will all end in tears and in 4 years time I believe he will be kicked out of office as he will be hopelessly out of his depth Great speechmaker and orator, would I buy a used car, timeshare or snake oil off him ? for sure I would - do I trust him to get the world out of the recession and wipe out Al Qaeda ? like fuck I do Too many Americans watch 24 and have been seduced at how good President Palmer was so they elected their own President Palmer, tbh I can see Obama ending up the same way as Palmer
Sure I think Palmer is the big factor in why Obama got elected Palmer was the most popular tv political character ever in America and got America used to the idea of a black man in the Oval Office and that this contributed to Obama's success with a lot of 24 fans voting Obama because they saw him as a real life President Palmer Obama owes a lot to Dennis Haysbert
But this is not 24 sadly and there is no Jack Bauer to save the world this is real life and this is an almighty fuck up by the American people
I think you'll find that factors such as healthcare and the economy, plus factors the management of Hurricane Katrina will have played a bigger role than influence by a fictional character. HOWEVER, if we are going to use that analogy, then perhaps Matt Santos from the West Wing would be a more accurate representation. And that character was based on... Barack Obama.
Vale Senator McCain. You made a heroic effort, but the odds were always against you. You can feel proud that while you did not win you prevented a rout - this is no 1932 or 1964. Well done sir. You have every reason to feel proud.
Perhaps he lurks? Anyway I just wanted to say a few words. Senator Obama has won a historic victory - for which he deserves congratulations; but I feel Senator McCain deserves his due.
