God what HAPPENED to this show?

Ten years ago it was DIANA, MARIAH and DONNA all sharing the stage with Faith Hill and Beyonce in supporting roles.

Now it's MILEY CYRUS, CIARA (ha!) and JORDIN SPARKS with hosting duties by ADAM LAMBERT?

I was going to mock this by recommending another low rent R&B slut but Ciara is pretty much ROCK BOTTOM in 2012. Maybe Cassie will get a last minute call?

Jordin Sparks I can ACTUALLY understand regardless of what the line-up could and would have been cause she did Sparkle with Nippy and that was the last project she did.

The OTHERS HOWEVER (and that includes B's backup singer) are just QUESTIONABLE to the MAX.

Jesus, let Mariah be the headliner, let Christina remember when Whitney said no one could sing her song better (other than herself), Celine Dion can hold Courtney Love's hand backstage and cry at footage of herself crying at footage of Whitney in 2004, bully Aretha to record a VT whilst holding a cup of banana pudding and Bobbi K can duet 2 Can Play That Game with Bobby B. Give this show a budget and it could have been brilliant.

    This would be unbearable.

I wouldn't mind Kelly doing a cover of "Dinner With Gershwin" or "This Time I Know It's for Real" :disco:

DISGUSTING: Natasha Bedingfield performed Groove Is In The Heart (Bootsy, how could you?). It can be viewed here, but not from the UK.

I love the way she says "my truly favourite Whitney songs" and ends up sounding like she says "Twitney"

I watched some clips on VH1 yesterday. The whole affair looked UTTERLY TRAGIC. Low rent, thrown together, thoughtless and lacking in star power. POOR WHITNEY AND DONNA, enduring this 'legacy'...

Is Divas Live 2000 available on any torrents or the like? I really want to relive it in all its SHAMBOLIC GLORY.

I don't remember that one. I've clearly blocked it from MEMORY because it was still a big deal back in 2000. I guess that was the show that killed it off for good?

1998 and 1999 Divas are LIFE AFFIRMING. I still watch those (select) clips back regularly.

Oh 2000 was amazing. It was the tribute to Diana Ross featuring a reunion of THE SUPREMES (except it was two members who were only in the group after Diana jumped ship because one of the original trio was DEAD and the other one still hated Diana's guts :D )

Mariah was particularly on-form that evening. Visibly drunk and forgetting the words to Baby Love, much to Diana's barely-concealed RAGE.

I was doing Mariah's Baby Love arm choreo on my treadmill - Divas must have stayed on my mind. The song was ABBA though.

My assessment is that Mariah was fuming at Diana halting their rehearsal to "no no" her high notes - those "diva in training" (ie, I'm much younger than you) comments were so relaxed and she was clearly loving not caring about Diana's moment. I think it was quite clear they didn't get on - Diana pretty much made a joke about doing a Mariah number, but NO, a Supremes song would just have to do instead (cue audience erupting).

You know, if anyone can revive this format it could be Beyonce. She would need to rope in Solange, Kelly, 'Chelle and do a DC reunion with ALL of them for an awkward yet fabulous finale.
