Where is that mix available to PURCHASE? Did Pop! get it in the US store?

The lack of Whitney in the UK iTunes Store is both VEXING and BAFFLING. Album out in October? What a RIDICULOUS notion, especially with all the hype RIGHT NOW.

It would bomb if it came out now - it needs some proper promo. The buzz hasn't translated offline yet.

The Freemasons mix is great once the melody kicks in

Not Green Light good but what is

Oh sure, it wouldn't be an instant hit. But there must be a fair group of people who have been following this and want it now. I'm pretty sure my desire to purchase will have dissipated by mid October.

I don't see the problem with giving it a MLIYL-style soft release, but I guess a number one debut post-X Factor would be more impactful

I don't know why the UK always seems to lag behind in terms of releases by international artists...

Whitney Houston Gets Second Day on Oprah
By: Roger Friedman // Tuesday September 1, 2009

Whitney Houston was so good on Tuesday's taping of Oprah that she's doing a second one tomorrow.

This means that Whitney will get not only the Oprah premiere on Sept. 14, but a full second hour on Sept. 15 to finish up.

What this also means is that Houston's "I Look to You" album should skyrocket in sales.

The CD, which was released yesterday, looks like it's tracking toward a 300,000 copy debut. Frankly, it's surprising everyone, even the people at Arista Records. Reports are that "I Look to You" is exceeding expectations and is No. 1 in most foreign markets after making its worldwide debut on Monday.

Houston's success can be attributed to a lot of things, but mostly the idea that she's overcome her difficulties and survived. Everyone loves a survival story, and Whitney is certainly one of the most rooted-for celebrities ever.

On "Oprah," apparently Houston talks frankly with Winfrey about her drug addiction, her life with Bobby Brown, and just about everything else people are curious about. If this proves true, and Whitney really comes clean, the catharsis should re-establish her. The worst thing Houston ever did was her Diane Sawyer interview in 2002 - her infamous "I can afford better drugs than crack" speech. For Houston to open up, be honest, and take responsibility for that whole mess, well, then, she's back.

Also on "Oprah," set-siders (I love that expression) say Houston's gut-wrenching performance of the Diane Warren song "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" should ensure an outpouring of emotion- and a guaranteed hit single.

Whitney is one of the only people in the world not scared of QUEEN O

The Waiting To Exhale interview where she tells Oprah to mind her own business is a stone moment

Everyone's still a little OTT about "hit single" this and "chart comeback" that

I have no doubt the album will debut #1 or #2. Whether it has any legs, and whether her singles will be successful, is another matter entirely

I'm just not sure fans of Whitney, her sound, Oprah and GMA are digital download buyers...

I think it will make a difference, not enough to propel either of the singles to the top ten or anything but perhaps the top 40, they're already on the up on iTunes and the GMA performance probably hasn't taken proper effect yet. And when the Grammy's come along, should the singles win any big awards (ROTY, SOTY) it could take until the Grammy's until they reach their peak... it's happened before.

Here was the blurb re: first week sales in the US posted on HitsDailyDouble

Even though they say 'after two days on the street' the prediction is only based on Monday. HDD can often underestimate first week sales for many albums, it will all be based on the impact of GMA and how it holds up throughout the week.

    They've already heightened their prediction...

I'm guessing that since this article takes Monday and Tuesday's sales into account that the sales numbers will ultimately be even higher than this new prediction because the GMA effect (even if it isn't that strong) will keep its sales very consistent through most of the week.

She's guaranteed #1 and that's the main thing, hopefully it will be more like 300k+ in the end.

oh the songs are climbing fast too...

I'm not sure how the charts work, there - will she chart at #1 just based on Monday's sales? Or does it include Tuesday as well?

That's odd, because if she's allowed to count Monday as well, why doesn't everyone just do that? Extra day of sales innit :|

I've always been curious to when the drugs had started. Sometimes I think it was 1999 or as early as 1992, I hope this is cleared up
