Yes, I know it is practically dead and buried. The new line up was announced today. Simon, Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and AYDA FIELD? Wtf? Robbie will probably be quite entertaining in an unpredictable way but why on this good Earth has Ayda Field been hired? :manson:

I get that but she is not anything to do with the music industry whatsoever. She’s a loose woman for crying out loud.

I guess the way the show has been losing viewers all these years, they're trying to grab any kind of attention from the audience. If they have Robbie and his wife there, I guess they're expecting that people would be interested to see how they interact on tv.
I think it was a stupid choice hiring either of them, but X Factor has stopped being relevant, so they can put whoever they want there and the result will probably be the same.

I think I would feel pretty short changed if I had her as my mentor.

I get it is not the mammoth show it once was, but it does still pick up a fair amount of media coverage. I am pretty certain Simon Cowell would not be thinking the show is not relevant anymore so who cares?

Robbie Williams is also a past concern.

Not that I watch it, but that judges panel is such a death knell.

Yeah the usual celebrations and group hugs when she wanders into the room for the category reveal are going to make those for Louis Walsh seem positively genuine.

I wonder how Sharon turning up for the lives is going to fit in.

I thought Sharon and Louis had been given the heave ho. Is she coming back for the live shows?

I always enjoyed the X Factor, and can remember when the live shows used to be a pretty big event. I will probably still watch if I have no plans on a Saturday evening, but I think the last show I remember actively enjoying was whenever Mel B was getting her bitch on at the 6 Chair Challenge stage a few years back.

I think it was confirmed when it was announced Louis was gone.

Are Robbie&Ayda a double act of judges (i.e. one mentor slot between them), with Sharon back for the live shows and a mentor?

I didn't realise until I saw the publicity photos earlier how much Robbie now looks like a younger, less withered with hate Morrissey.

Are we assuming that Ayda only got the job because Robbie refused to do it without her?

Well I'd certainly never heard of her until today.

This is ridiculous. AYDA - I love her, she's gorgeous and a nice person - but on X Factor - FAAACCK OFFF

That’s what I presumed. I really can’t see how she could possibly mentor anyone directly. And more to the point, having FIVE judges would seem excessive.

Or unless Ayda is doing what ELLEN did in America? Ridiculous!

Apparently Robbie will miss some of the live shows due to touring commitment and Mrs O will fill in for him

All this rejigging of the judging panel and STILL they won't bring back Melb? It's quite the coup to get the fifth most popular member of One Direction AND somebody's wife at the same time, but still it feels like they're overlooking the genuinely good judges they've already had.

I guess at this point it’s more about who they can get than who they want.

The one thing that has never really worked for the show though is changing up the judges throughout the show.

The series’ where Dannii and Cheryl were absent at different points (obviously for reasons outside of their control) definitely suffered even with a string of cameo judges.

Surely Mel B is chomping at the bit for an offer?? Her latest divorce is costing her a bomb.

I’d be willing to accept the new panel if melb was there instead of that Ayda. Louis and Robbie will be more like Voice judges just being nice to everyone, so Mel being all cunty and going off script would be a welcome addition.

I mean the other one, the sinister one from One Direction. I wouldn’t have Louis Walsh back, he should have retired or died well before he ever inflicted Jedward on us.

Haven't seen the show in years but that looks a pretty terrible panel. Mind you my opinion doesn't count. I just used to record it to see Dannii Minogue being introduced onto stage to defeat Cheryl in hair and dress wars that the tabloids were obsessed with. Then I'd fast forward to Dannii's bits.

He obviously changed Louis for a Louis to try and confuse the masses of Louis Walsh fans. Smart thinking.

Louis T is one of the most loathsome, grasping personalities in music. I can't wait for the 1D LADS to all snub doing judges' houses so he ends up with Bebe Rexha.

Did anyone watch this? I’m not sure I am really all that much of a fan of the new panel. Danny from Pop Idol 17 years ago really wasn’t ALL THAT. He seems like a lovely guy, but I think we are really scraping the dregs from the bottom of the barrel if he is worthy of a standing O.

I was intending to watch. But then I saw Louis on the cover of The Sun yesterday going on about how he likes being a chav, and I decided I couldn't indulge the unbearable little cunt.

Are we having any predictions for ratings? I am going for 8 million. I think Robbie might pull in a fair few viewers for the series premiere.

Not a fan of the live auditions.

If I’m not mistaken, didn’t it result in a few dire acts being put through because they won over the audience when they were actually no-goers?

Instead of creating a girl band or boy band why do they not go for a mixed group? Or did that go out of fashion with Steps, and S Club 7?
