I'm really not sure I like the song; I like Kelly's version (but then never had to hear it in the context of her having won a contest that I'd watched). Leona's version is alright but the song just seems to lack something. And I really don't like the way she says "some people wait a lieeftime".

That's the FIRST thing I thought when I heard her sing it :D

But I didn't like to be negative :shy:

I really don't think 'A Moment Like This' was designed to be sung the way she sings it. She's no doubt got a great voice but it's almost like the song holds her back; the vocals don't fit with the song and the high note at the end sounds like it was shoe-horned in there out of desperation to provide a winners song that showcases all her strengths but then fails to do so in a way that really proves what she can do.

But maybe that's just me being overly-negative. It's nothing fickle against her, it just feels for once like the contestant really is too good for the song.

I see that "Summertime" and "Sorry..." were the chosen B-Sides

The first of MANY good decisions I hope...

    OMG.

Having read about 40-50 pages of these posts; I was a little jealous of you lot, as I couldn't watch it live.

In my view, Leona is absolutely fabulous. I thought she peaked at "IWALY" (which cannot be bettered after Dolly's version, even though Whitney did try and, in the process, put $6m in Parton's pockets), and then along came "All By Myself".

As for "lack of personality and emotion" and what rot; that seems a little off topic. Her "job" is to make US feel and emote. And I certainly did just that.

She'll be a MEGA-star. And I hope she'll get looked after by competent song writers and PR people from here on...

Still got goosebumps, after this video.

    YAY

That was recorded off the station I work for - see when the phone number comes up during the song? I pressed the button that made that happen! :o

Well exactly, and Michelle... and Girls Aloud :disco:

To be fair, I don't think they should've expected a female winner's single to do better than a young male's... and Shayne had a better song...

    UGH.

X Factor contestant Ben Mills has signed a five-album deal with record label Sony BMG.

Mills, who was voted off in the ITV show's semi-finals, was compared to the young Joe Cocker by judge Simon Cowell.

The 26-year-old is currently recording his debut, which will feature songs from X Factor and his own material.

"The X Factor was the perfect platform to gain recognition and I'm really enjoying writing and recording this album," Mills said in a statement.

Before appearing on the talent show, Mills was director of a marquee company in Kent.

He joins fellow X Factor contestants Leona Lewis and Ray Quinn on the Sony BMG label and will release his first album in March.

Just read on digital spy that she's applied for X-Factor :D

Pop Idol finalist Hayley Evetts is to sing in front of Simon Cowell again on The X Factor.

Anyone else thinking Leona has COMPLETELY missed the boat now?

I see the words 'world class star' and 'megastar' touted in here a lot - but does anyone REALLY give a FUCK any more? I certainly don't,.

Well she was back on TV the other day performing 'Somewhere' from West Side Story with Il Divo on Simon's 'This Is Your Life' show and I imagine she will get a performance on one of the X Factor shows later this year - but she'll have to come back with an excellent song I think for most people who liked her to pay attention to her again after the lengthly gap between singles. Apparently one of the tracks she recorded is called Homeless - a poster on Popjustice suggested it may be a song already recorded by some Swedish male artist - Darin or something like that?

And re: the new X Factor series - never been a massive fan of the show mainly because of Louis & Sharon becoming rather annoying in the last series but I think they have picked 2 decent enough judges to create a well mixed panel and Dermot is the ideal person to present the show too.
