There's something irresistibly flopulous about this duet. It's the second-rate Britney and the second-rate Taylor :disco:

    STUNNING video

Xtina looks fucking amazing. Love that they've had the balls to present her and Demi as being the same age :D although they actually do look it!

What a ridiculous assessment. Most of the album tracks are better than what we'd already heard.

Deserve is indeed BRILLIANT and Pipe and Masochist are not far behind. Right Moves is also very good.

    Maria is a catastrophe however.

So is this actually terrible? The reviews I've seen aren't half bad. Rolling Stone have given it 5/5!

It's an OBVIOUS quality hike over Lotus, yes. The production and vocals are impeccable throughout but the songs aren't always quite there.

It's directed at the producers of The Voice, dear, not her fans.

I think I get what she was going for with Sick of Sittin but it's oddly underbaked and disjointed. She should have committed more to the Black Cat rock VIBE

Still I love the sheer AUDACITY of writing a song to talk shit about the show which paid her about 60 milli and kept her in the public eye when she couldn't be fucked releasing an album for six years :disco: ungrateful queen

    No.

It's not especially interesting, the tunes are lacking and the VOX are just a rehash of her usual performance tics. The production is improved this time though, so there is that.

The album is hit and miss, but "LIKE I DO", "Unless it's With You", "Pipe", "Deserve" I have on repeat. four max moments in a post 2006 Xtina album isn't bad.

I actually am confident "Unless It's With You" with a proper good live performance on a major TV platform can catapult her first hit solo hit in 10 years. I'd echo SDF that it is a stellar vocal and the last 90 seconds or so is amaze in particular.

this is starting to really creep up on me. it's such a creative rebirth for her, loving how ENERGISED she sounds. what's really missing for me though is a big uptempo...

I'd say it's about 70% successful in what it's going for. hopefully the next album will be soon (she claims it will) and even stronger.

    another one already? how come?

is this going to be at least Top 20 in the charts? it seems the singles made ZERO impact and I doubt another ballad in the summer could change things

I listened to the album and I wasn’t really sold on ANYTHING. I think it’s a shame that of all the styles she’s dabbled with over the years, the one she’s stuck with is muffled, grainy R&B-lite beats.

It reminded me of Kelly Clarkson’s last album in that it’s clearly not intended to be a commercial behemoth. But at least Kelly’s album had some intent behind it. I couldn’t shake the feeling that Christina’s album feels like it just HAPPENED without any real planning or enthusiasm.

if you don't like the music fair enough but I think it's quite clear there's a lot of enthusiasm behind this project. it wasn't just shit out like Lotus. it's her vision and artistry.

she said she's got a lot of material and is feeling really fired up at the minute.

the album will be #5 or #6 in the US with about 70k in pure sales, the same as Lotus. great result considering the general sales decline in that time. no extra sales from streaming though as it has zero streaming hits

I could even say Accelerate is the worst thing in there as it stands out because it's uptempo; no wonder they chose it as the first single.
You could say the album lacks potential singles and uptempo stuff but clealry she didn't want another Lotus (neither did her fanz).

I mean, I do QUEEN out every now and then to Your Body and Let There Be Love but bitch blatantly HATES them.

I’ve been listening to this album a lot and I think it’s definitely one of her best albums, I mean it’s obviously not Stripped, but it’s such an improvement on Lotus and Bionic (even though You lost me is still the best thing ever).

Christina Aguilera’s first album of new material in more than five years, her eighth studio set, Liberation, becomes her sixth Top 20 entry, debuting at No.17 (4,834 sales). It thus surpasses the No.28 debut/peak position of her last album, 2012’s Lotus, but not that album’s first week sale of 9,422. In fact, Liberation’s opening week tally is the lowest of Aguilera’s career. Her 2010 album, Bionic, was the last of her two No.1 albums but notoriously plunged 1-29 on its second week in the chart, the steepest ever experienced by a female solo artist, although The Vamps’ Night And Day made the biggest plunge from No.1 ever when it crashed to No.37 last July.
