I think I might have gone and translated the Voynich manuscript today.

I am a LITTLE shook up.

(It's been sent to a referee to review)

Oh, for me to hide in shame tomorrow!

They think it's Manchu, and it's NOT; it's saying

    /putting specs on/

YO Fu KK erZ, gemme outa ERE

Seriously; I HAVE deciphered it - at least in parts. I may be proven wrong in time, but to make that into intelligible text is my greatest moment. Still in a daze!

A bit of both, I reckon.

I have NEVER been as excited as tonight, when I sent my theory off.

Like I said; I may be proven wrong now or never.

I called my Uni pal, and went through the motions with him, and he agreed with all my steps. Still; it's EARLY days.

Yet, it's so simple & beautiful.

However; nought much in terms of BREAKING NEWS kind of stuff; just the translation in itself, I guess...

How can you be in doubt whether you've translated it? You can presumably read english.

Well, like I said; it may be DESTROYED in fashion. But... there's always that "but". I kind of like it.

From what I gather from people who studied latin at school, the textbooks are full of homosexual antics. Very ghey indeed.

If your name wasn't David, I'd ask if you went to my old school in Chelmsford cos that was an ACTUAL LINE from our Latin textbooks.

They so were! But I could never work out whether Gaius and Sextus were just jolly good pals.

I can't remember which book it was, but there's one when all the male characters had that trip to an inn...THAT was more than suggestive.
