Cheryl No Longer Relevant

I mean, she's fucking SHIT there vocally, but what's new for her or that song? It's a nightmare song for ANY vocalist and notoriously fucked over even Idina herself at the Tonys in the year she won the award for singing it :D

I just don't understand the levels of delusion that she or anyone else can ever think that she could ever do it.

Because how well (or badly) she sung was irrelevant. It was all about creating her as a legit musical theatre performer in the audience's eyes. Appearing on this would have legitimised this (obviously ludicrous) claim for enough people watching to then translate into ticket buyers for whatever awfulness she was about to appear in.

Elphaba is up there with the all time difficult musical theatre soprano roles like Christine from Phantom, Evita and Mama Rose.

The fact that it is a very poppy score and requires a young-ish actress means lots of people have a pop at it when they really shouldn't.

Fuck knows how KIM is getting those West End roles now though, given that her pop group profile is ROCK BOTTOM and she can't ACTUALLY SING.

To be honest, I think the people who cast shows in the UK just throw a dart at previous Strictly line-ups and go from there. Anne Widdecombe has probably been offered Evita and Roxie Hart at this point.

:D!

I'm not familiar but what an incredible place. Why on earth close down with a reputation like that.

The Michael Owen one is beyond belief

Incidentally I had a glorious day in Great Yarmouth years ago with an ex. It was a freezing, foggy, winters day and apart from marvelling at the haunting abandonment of the rides and seafront, I don't think we stopped laughing all day. It was like everyone human had cleared off leaving just the creatures of the underworld running the town. It was a FRIGHTFUL DELIGHT from beginning to end.

Is that THAT BAD or am I missing something entirely?

I thought the same. She's not wonderful and the money notes are off, but it's hardly car crash entertainment in the way I hoped. It's certainly not this:

Ah, c'mon, it was early, she was probably still jaked from the night before.

Somebody make a waxwork of Cheryl trying not to piss herself after Sarah's bum note.

I think that Kimberley Defying Gravity is hysterical. The first couple if minutes are barely competent, but the last thirty seconds or so are completely woeful.

I don't really like her, I just appreciate the talent.

with all the constant surgeries and yoyo weight loss surely the old CHERLY wax figure didn't resemble her anymore anyway

Quitting's OUTTA the QUESTION! :disco:

How DARE anyone suggest The Voice is no longer relevant? That's like saying no one cares about Jessie J or Lulu is a national hate figure ???

Oh.

She didn't even perform 'Let You' once did she? Probably Damage limitation but still

Is that her finished now then? I wouldn’t be surprised if she comes out with something new to promote on BGT, or X Factor.

She's definitely over as a pop star. Continually releasing awful albums chock full of filler tat will do that to you.

Which of course is pretty much standard for a lot of pop acts, and isn't a recent phenomenon. But Girls Aloud didn't follow that pattern.

At least she still has The Greatest Dancer.:)

I think regardless of what state of floppage her pop career is at, she's a big enough celebrity to sustain a presence for a long time yet. Even if it starts to slip from BBC1 primetime.

Acts of mindless (definitely not racist) thuggery notwithstanding.

Surely another X Factor stint is INEVITABLE at this stage? Although unfortunately I can’t see it doing much as few seem to care about the show or Cheryl these days. :(

Cowell seems happy to recycle panels endlessly, seemingly unbothered by popularity.

I'd imagine if she wanted to do it (and she may well need to adjust her aspirations) that she could do it.

Of course the panel Cowell ought to recycle is Cheryl and Dannii. At least he'd get the gays back for the frocks.

Unfortunately I would say even fewer viewers would be tuning in for Dannii, Moopy aside.

Are you insinuating that the stats which indicate she's the most popular judge ever based on viewing figures throughout their tenure are mere coincidence?!

Right place, right time Lolly darling. I think she was lucky to have the show at the time she was judging rather than vice versa. I wouldn’t say it was Dannii’s departure that made people turn off in their droves.

I'm sure the departure of Minogue Minora sent literally dozens of gays into a tizzy.

That definitely put the gays off. However, I think it was always inevitable the music career would eventually go.

Like, musically, the woman is awful. Not as bad as, say, Tulisa (god love her) but as far as actual talent and popstar drive goes she was always a 4/10 at best, so to be so big (5 number ones etc) was always going to result in a massive fall at some point. It's just the public adore an underdog, and really took it quite far. Plus, the lead singles as said are pretty blinding :disco:

I do think her first album was a massive fluke. But it is GOOD. I mean, it's so unlikely that she'd sing a song as interesting and unusual as 3 Words, but she did and she opened the album with it. She's even recently said in an interview that she loves that song and misses singing it.
