Her new album - "A Love Story" - is set to break new ground when it is released on October 11th 2019. In what promises to be possibly the most Moopy album of all time, the record will cover a range of themes including Des'ree's battle with chronic stage fright, her fear of flying and suffering in silence after being diagnosed with an underactive thyroid.

With this in mind, I think I speak for all of us when I say that I can't wait to hear the lyrical content of first single "Don't Be Afraid".

Don't Be Afraid

I am so annoyed
By my underactive thyroid
My mother was a milkmaid
She said: Don't be afraid
Don't be afraid

Have you ever seen the moon crying?
I have a fear of flying
After day comes night
I have developed stage fright

I am so annoyed
By my underactive thyroid
My mother was a milkmaid
She said: Don't be afraid
Don't be afraid

I'm going to convert my spare room into a listening booth, exclusively to listen to this.

“Have you ever seen the moon crying? / I have a fear of flying” (:D!) surely an all-time classic couplet. Suck on that Sylvia! Grammy for Des’ree this instant please!

Finally!

Ooh I get the shivers

Might be a ghost. Best to have some toast, that usually sorts them out.

Must admit, this did send me to her Wikipedia page...for some reason I thought she'd had more hits than she actually did. Maybe that's due to her icon status over on dotmusic.

I'm Kissing You is one of those weird massive hits that was never actually a hit.

The new song's perfectly fine, disappointing lack of classic Des'ree lyrics though.

See the man, over there?
He's a Leo
Check his hair

At least she squeezed some royalties out of Queen Bey for illicit appropriation.

I legit love Supernatural, I don’t want to listen to it though in case it was just being 16

Best not to. The (approximately) 16 year old me thought T’Pau were wonderful rather than dreadful, and Carol Decker was a very special lady rather than some disgusting harridan who’s jealous of Enya :(

I can't seem to find the thread with all her tragic early 00s web postings about how she hadn't heard anything from the record company in a while but it's OK because she's keeping up with her pottery. :(

:D Poor love. Still, just goes to show that it’s always important to have other interests :)

And ideally not SPECIAL ones. Which has brought back all those early 00s memories of men growling (well, deliberately going down two octaves to do so) MASSIVE COCK SPECIAL INTERESTS in the Mantalk phone chat lounge :gross:

The queen of wallpaper paste pop is back. I hope she has space in her diary to promote this on Loose Women. The jealousy in phoney Big Brenda's hungry eyes will be a beautiful sight. I liked the ad libs during the fade out.

:D GOD WILLING

I’m too pissed in the Spoons to be able to remember but what was that recent-ish horror where someone got up and did their NEW SONG in front of the dead-eyed LWs clapping along like decapitated seals on ketamine? Was it Katie Price?

GOOD GRIEF :D

To think I once LIKED Janet Street-Porter. I bet even Neil and Chris hate her now, or at least bitterly slag her off while she’s at the bar ordering more Veuve Clicquot

I never understood the old school Moopy worship of JSP. Maybe she peaked before my time, but she's always come across as a vile old trout.

Speaking of music I thought was world changing because I was 12, I really was enamoured by Kim Appleby's first (and possibly last) solo adventure.

Thank goodness modern and progressive could never be thrown at me in my youth.

Just finished my clay mould of cwej's penis. Will let it dry as I wait for James from EMI Records to call back. Still nothing in the post from Doug. Saw my friend Jenny and had an idea for a song about a penny, will jot it down later. My thyroid is starting to feel a bit underactive but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

I really like the song!

Spotify says she gets 1.3 million monthly listeners. So presumably the royalty cheques are still coming in from Life and You Gotta Be!

@Halli Post of the Year nomination :disco:

The real thing is hugely underwhelming after this.

I feel a little sorry for her. She just made her first ever Tweet at the weekend and 80% of the replies are gays making fun of the 'Life' lyrics.

She'll probably attempt to sue them all.

Is the Twitter account The News By Des’Ree someone from here?

If it’s not, can we get them to join?
