SCD Strictly 2019

The part with the canes went on a bit. There was no way they were going to keep completely in time for all that.

I wasn't completely convinced but a 10 seems to be the default for everyone but Craig tonight.

Kelvin might be a Brexity berk, but that was the best showdance easily. Hats off to Queen Oti, she deserves the win.

Emma's Netta Barzilai impression on her podium during the opening number was her best moment yet

Kelvin's choreo-megamix showdance set a new standard for other seasons to follow.

Very strong show, even Emma and her deranged showbiz eyes did good.

Karim’s show dance was just a Jive, wasn’t it? They didn’t do anything new that they’d not already done, so it was quite obvious that Kelvin deserved to win that final.

Also I generally wasn’t all that impressed with Karim throughout the show. He didn’t really improve, was consistently out of time and never really looked like he was putting all his energy into the steps. The judges really do have short memories by calling his Jive and Quickstep the best ever on the show when I can think of at least 5 each from the last 10 years that were so much better. Even Kelvin’s Jive was better.

Karim's piece was very Shakira and Cloud in the Did It Again video (or me when I fall in love with a stranger in Tesco).

Average 11.3 and peak 12.5 million with 56% share for the final in the overnights. Down slightly in viewers on last year but they'll presumably be very happy with those numbers.

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the series and am quite BEREFT that it is over already. I know the Christmas special is coming but I will not be able to watch until some point in January. :(

The Christmas special always feels a bit RUBBISH to me, anyway.

I must have a look at the Christmas Radio Times, as I really don't have much of a clue at all at what festive treats we have in store.

Oh, and speaking of the Christmas Radio Times, has anyone noticed it's got a SPINE this year? It was almost enough to give me a semi when I noticed that.

Other than the obvious soaps and Mrs Browns Boys I think Gavin & Stacey is the one that is likely to pull in the crowds this Christmas.

Yes they are making quite the fuss about Gavin & Stacey. Mrs Brown's Boys quite happily seems to be suffering diminishing returns, Call The Midwife usually does well.

The Strictly special starts weirdly early, in the late afternoon this year. I agree it tends to feel a bit shit coming on the heels of the main series.

I think it's a bit shit because they keep bringing contestants from previous series, and not very good ones at that in some cases, so there's no mystery as you know what you're going to get. They used to bring new contestants for the Xmas episode and I think it made it a lot more exciting.

Maybe it’s just me but I cannot understand why people watch TV on Christmas Day, of all days. It’s the one day I wouldn’t even think of sitting in front of the TV.

He's following his sister in gunning for the West End as a post-SCD career. It probably pays better and there is less scrutiny into his private life. I kind of will miss his ridiculous antics and NAKED DESPERATION.

Anton aside, wasn't he the oldest male dancer?

So Anton is going to look even more separated from the rest of them.

Apparently Neil is the same age as Kevin, 37.

Anton is 53, but I think he looks 60 quite easily.

I quite unashamedly fancied him.

Recently he had become marginally less annoying than he used to be but I can't say I'll miss him.

Presumably (if the powers that be feel so inclined) this will mean they can bring Gorka back without demoting Johannes or Neil.

I found him much less annoying from when he partnered Susan Calman onwards.

There's still Graziano to consider as well.

If they keep him around I think they won't be that worried about leaving him on the bench -unless they have more tall females cast this year.

Oti's husband is allegedly being brought in as a troupe dancer too.

I just had a horrible thought, what if they take the opportunity to foist the other dreadful Pritchard upon us?

I prefer the other Pritchard. I very much don't like the idea of both of them being on it, though.

Can we just swap?

So all the pros other than Kevin are returning, spare parts TBC. No newcomers announced today, though they have sometimes followed later.

Kevin is like a time capsuled Same Difference brother. The combination of his deluxe derrière and eager puppy face will be missed until he turns up on Celebs Go Dating.

What a wonderful surprise. Since these things come in threes is it too much to hope that Anton is next?

It is a bit odd that he was initially announced as returning, I wonder what happened there. As for presenting opportunities with his brother... FUCK NO

Yes, that is odd. I'm guessing something he and his brother already have planned that the BBC wasnt happy with.

But WHO CARES? :D
