Many loons rank it along with In the Zone and Britney as part of the "holy trinity". Personally, I'd put Circus ahead of it too, and possibly Britney. But it is certainly an improvement on the two albums that preceded it, and leagues ahead of Britney Jean.

Had they not bastardized the release of "Make Me" by binning the real video and released "Do You Wanna Come Over" as another pre-release single, I think its fortunes would have been a bit better.

Also "If I'm Dancing" is probably a mainstay in my all time Britney top ten. It is just so JOYOUS

I love when she uses her beautiful Louisiana French Creole on this album. I really hope she does another Cajun-language project at some point.

In what warped world does anyone count this album with those 2 as a "holy trinity" of Britney's work?! Not that I know what goes on in the world of Britney loons these days, but surely Blackout is any sane person's top 3.

I can't remember anything from Glory mainly because I had no desire to listen to it more than about 3 times (the second and third to politely give it a chance which I needn't have bothered with).

Her albums this decade have actually been terrible.

I have this yet still didn’t remember it was the title of one of her albums. It’s better than Britney Jean, I’ll give it that.

I meant Blackout bitch

I didn't realise it was SO beloved by the Britney loons.

Apparently we're disowning Femme Fatale now because of Dr Luke? I think that's still her best album this decade. Obviously it was let down by her complete ABSENCE during the whole era, but it's much more consistent and at least we got a whole campaign (and an iconic gif) out of it.

Glory is enjoyable for what it is - and on reflection I adore Make Me, but it's never REALLY clicked with me as a "Britney" album. Plus Private Show and What You Need are easily two of her WORST songs.

It's easily her best this decade but it's still worse than Britney, In The Zone, Blackout and Circus. Take away the incredible singles and Femme Fatale doesn't hold up too well.

I don't know where she goes from here but fan service rather than hit chasing seems the perfect stage for her now. Although seeing Britney get another proper hit would make me squeal a little, just for the ridiculousness of it all.

I agree - I'm not really sure where she goes either.

I think she's already had her resurgence hit as a heritage act in Scream & Shout (tragic as that is).

I really enjoy the It's Britney Bitch! podcast, but I could do without them making excuses for the absolute state she's in now. I would be willing to accept that she dances less if she still had the ability to PERFORM, but she isn't capable of either.

The thing is, whilst she has/had a relatively identifable sound, it's rarely been the sort that she can rely on musically alone. Her songs need performance, visuals and personality. Watching her talk through scripted interviews and look TERRIFIED all the time isn't enjoyable. Although evidently her interest levels fluctuate, it's becoming more and more obvious how much she hates the promotion trail. I don't truly believe that she's been a particularly vital element to the creation of the majority of her material (despite what the PR guff says) and at this point you have to wonder whether the songs would just be better off going to an artist who'll actually do somethin' with it.

c'mon guys, the natural next step (and current state of her voice, not that she was a powerhouse to begin with) is tinny sounding, basic trap-like songs where she'll talk fast just like what Ariana is doing nowadays and for some reason pass by as ACTUAL SONGS and since Max Martin is an expert on the theme I bet they'll carry on that direction.

I could see Britney releasing beige stuff a la 7 Rings and break up with your girlfriend with more sexified lyrics to be honest.

I’d probably only put it above Oops, Baby and Britney Jean. It’s alright. If I’m Dancing is the only real standout for me.

I'm not sure how vital or how much influence she has either but her hit rate has been pretty consistent for years until the last two albums for someone so useless/barely in the room. That could be a record company throwing everything and the kitchen sink to keep the Britney ship alive but I always tried to believe she had some input and wasn't just wheeled into a room to "front" it all.

Thing is she was just as vacant during the Femme Fatale campaign but look what we got there, plus actual hits to go with it. Maybe her body can't even cope with that anymore, maybe she doesn't care - she's surely still making a mint - or maybe she's just considered TOO OLD for them to bother with her much now. I'd like to believe it's still possible though.

But then I'd happily settle for a Britney-style tits-on-the-ceiling album of stompers that doesn't attempt anything except pandering to those who still care. 12 back to back "Before the Goodbye" clones should do it :disco:

i still cannot believe Make Me Ooh and Slumber PArty are part of her singles canon

they're so half baked and crap

Slumber Party is delightful! I can't even remember how Make Me goes, though

Anyway there's plenty to enjoy on this album. It's high-enough quality throwaway pop. Less painfully trend-chasing than a majority of Femme Fatale, which has not aged well. Obviously better than Brinty Jean, although it's no Circus.

I played this yesterday after seeing it on here. It’s decidedly average. “Coupure Electrique” remains one of the best things she’s ever done, though...silly half arsed bonus track that it is.

Man On the Moon is so overrated. From all the fanwank over it you'd think it was the new Get Naked or Breathe On Me or something.
Oh do people love it?! Where can I find them

7/10.

First Britney album I never took to in full at the time (some of the others appeal has waned to varying extents, but I had been previously right into every other studio album from her upon release).

However, it does have some really great tracks and I think it works together well as an album. It's just a little...lacking.

I do think the two singles are a nice addition to her collection (as in they are quite different in style for her) and alongside Do You Wanna Come Over and Liar they both regularly make my playlists.

She casually releases the best album cover art of her 20+ year career four years after said album came out. :D

And the chains, METAPHORICAL QUEEN!

There is a rumor doing the rounds that she is re-releasing the album with three new(?) bonus tracks next week.
