Thought I would give some more information as I think this is potentially the best Eurovision replacement show we’re likely to get.

Background: this is Sweden’s attempt to deliver a 2020 Contest that is as close to the real thing as possible. That means 25 songs in a pre-decided running order, a jury vote, a televote, postcards before each song and a voting sequence.

On Saturday a semi final of sorts was held, but was widely criticised because it was like Gogglebox and viewers couldn’t really hear the songs properly. Regardless, a vote using an app was held and we now have a running order for the final, decided by Christer Bjorkman:

1. Azerbaijan - Cleopatra
2. United Kingdom - My Last Breath
3. Denmark - Yes
4. Estonia - What Love Is
5. Australia - Don’t Break Me
6. Lithuania - On Fire
7. Netherlands - Grow
8. Spain - Universo
9. Poland - Empire
10. Germany - Violent Thing
11. Belgium - Release Me
12. Iceland - Think about Things
13. Norway - Attention
14. Ireland - Story of My Life
15. France - Best of Me
16. Malta - All My Love
17. Finland - Looking Back
18. Bulgaria - Tears Getting Sober
19. Georgia - Take Me As I Am
20. Greece - Superstar
21. Switzerland - Respondez-Moi
22. Austria - Alive
23. Israel - Feker Libi
24. Italy - Fai Rumore
25. Russia - UNO

So that means that any country you do not see in this line-up did not survive the semi final - so bye bye to songs that no doubt would have made the real final - Ukraine and Romania, and hello Finland.

The Mamas - Move is not eligible for competing for obvious reasons but will be part of the interval act. Sarah Dawn Finer and Christer Bjorkman are hosting and Edward Af Sillen is the commentator.

edit: one more thing I’ve learnt - the presentation of the songs will be using the official video they submitted, because it is presumed that this video is what the country believes best presents their song. Obviously that means a mixture of live performance s and music videos. Some discussion was had about whether this was unfair but I think you could reasonably argue it both ways.

:D at “viewers couldn’t really hear the songs properly”! No wonder they voted for IRELAND! Sorry @dUb, I know you liked her :tongueout:)

I love this universe where Georgia have qualified, but Belgium and Estonia :side-eye:

I’m sure we’ve BEEN HERE BEFORE, but I don’t see why the EBU couldn’t have done something similar, without the couch chatters obviously. Surely it wouldn’t have been THAT hard to press play on the YouTube videos and have a televote and some fake clapping, and we could have cut to the glorious winners Little Big via satellite at the end and caught them mid-gang bang :disco:

a few reasons have come up:

*if that was to happen, who would host next year? The country that won or The Netherlands, who have already spent so much money on hosting it?

*regardless, the Dutch didn’t offer anything like this, holding out to actually host, so I don’t think the EBU would override them

*some EBU countries felt that a satellite link-up option was unfair on them and gave them a disadvantaged starting point

DISGUSTING! Can someone put together a list of the non-qualifiers so we can have an argument about it please :disco:

Belarus - Da Vidna
North Macedonia - You
Slovenia - Voda
Croatia - Divlji Vjetre
Cyprus - Running
Romania - Alcohol You
Czech Republic - Kemama
Moldova - Prison
San Marino - Freaky!
Serbia - Hasta La Vista
Albania - Fall from the Sky
Armenia - Chains on You
Latvia - Still Breathing
Portugal - Medo de Sentir

Imagine the shame of being the shittest ones in a year this terrible.

No Slovenia or North Macedonia. Or dear VAL.

God forbid this is even worse than Moopyvision.

Oh well in that case I blame the DUTCH :) (Not you though @Kevin)

They’re only going to have to spend MORE money hosting it next year. And there wouldn’t be a need for satellite link-ups. Just play the video, put the song number at the bottom and get the countries to phone their votes in at the end via FaceTime or Zoom. Cheap and easy! :disco:

Actually I think I am finally acknowledging how UTTERLY FUCKED OFF I am about this not happening and can feel the venom pouring out of me AS I BREATHE :argh:

Did the auto-qualifiers not have to go through the semis in this one, either? I can’t understand how Netherlands, France and Spain are in there otherwise.

I can imagine that France would have qualified anyway, at the mere mention of John Lundvik and his other Swedish songwriter pals being behind it.

The best decision the Swedes have made since choosing Frans

What a stinking PERVERT :disco:

:disco: for being a pervert, NOT for approving of Swedish monsters crushing Romanian dreams or choosing FRANS

:kim:

I know you don’t rate the song but surely she was a favourite for winner of boobrate 2020?
Maybe... She's a bit chavvy but I'm not one to talk on that subject. The Mamas are obviously where it's at when it comes to knockers. Stand them side by side and it's like six pumpkins in a hammock, albeit at various stages of ripeness.

Is this confirmed to be available to view outside Sweden please
