Feels So Good was actually a hit, the 85th biggest selling single of 2001 actually :oi: [/jonfessions]

Also why is this in the pop toilet? It was a top 5 hit.

I can still feel the shock waves felt around the word when the midweeks came out announcing that 'Word Up' was set to miss the Top 10.

What a time.

What a time.

I remember this too.

Also, when Lullaby missed the top 10, there was so much press saying this was 'her last chance' to go top 10 and not get dropped etc.

What a time to be alive.

But when 'Desire' missed the top 10, well top 20. I don't remember that. We don't know her.

It was such a shock at the time with 'Word Up' - not just because it had been the first time a Spice Girl had flopped with anything, but because she had performed it on every TV show possible. It was everywhere.

I will not accept any replies saying that it was actually not a shock, because the song was shit. Mel G's version remains to this day the definitive one.

The video is what killed Word Up, but her limitations as a singer were painfully exposed with this mix. It was an actual chore to listen to.

Pack your shit, bitch (edit: this was written before the racism blurb :D)

Anyone else absolutely love Bad Bad Girl? She definitely has something worth unleashing, more so than the other Mel who is much too worthy about the faint praise that saying she's the best singer is (and I'd actually say that was Emma anyway).

I also think it was because the video was apparently one of the most expensive, like, EVAAAHHH

Thanks to this thread - and today being one year since seeing the Spice Girls in Manchester - I’ve spent the day listening to solo Spice songs and it wasn’t half bad!

And yet she went and made a second video for it anyway. For a song that had already flopped. Just so Austin Powers could be in it?

DONDE ESTA EL BEST SONG ANY OF THEM DID SOLO, NUMBER FUCKING NINE?

SHIT OFF!

Mi Chico Latino is rather amazing in this sunny climate. :disco:

Am I the only one that closes their eyes and feels the breeze against their skin and imagines I am on the back of that yacht?

I never really got into Mel’s solo career part from IWYB and Feels so good. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen that Tell Me video, but it doesn’t seem that bad, and the song as some one said is not particularly out of place in 2001.

it’s a bit jarring sometimes though because the sound is so hyper-American to me, and the occasional flashes of British accent jump out a bit weirdly.

doesn’t really go anywhere though :|

I forgot about 'Better Alone' I really liked that one. I liked the subtle ANGST

Yes I’d forgotten it too! And Next Best Superstar but that’s one is a bit shit.

I have a soft spot for Next Best Superstar too. She's got a huge discography now.

When was her last 'hit' probably the Matt Cardle duet? But 'Who I am' really was her strongest in YEARS

I think it is possibly a stretch to call the Matt Cardle duet a HIT, no?

I think it made the top 20 and was all over the radio and music TV, so its all relative for a solo spice single these days :D

I didn’t realise it peaked in the Top 20. I take it back as that must be the highest chart position for a solo spice single in quite some time. :o

I really wouldn’t mind any of them having some sort of hit even a minor one at some point :(

I think Geri should re-release Angel in Chains, given the current climate.
