ABBA studio albums vinyl collection

I havent read they are out in standard black vinyl as well. There have been a couple of boxsets of black vinyl reasonably recently, so I assume not.

That's what I thought.

I've got most of them anyway (and indeed, I had bought them mostly from charity shops) but was wondering if these were represses on 180g? Mine are all quite flimsy..

I suppose so - I'm no ABBA aficionado by any means so apologies.

I may invest in this ...

The Visitors on YELLOW VINYL (:gross:) violently tramples all over my aesthetic sensibilities. Just NO!

@Suedey I know I shouldn't REALLY encourage you, but have you seen the Voulez-Vous double half speed remaster is £12 in the recordstore.co.uk sale?

I think I phrased it wrong. It should be a half speed master on double vinyl.

Still no idea here, either...

In fact I'd probably be more interested in that than the colour vinyl box set (which is still available on pre-orders..)

This arrived today!

I can't decide whether I want to open it or let it collect dust.

I think I'll open it. The coloured vinyls look NICE from the back cover

Ohhh, I'm so torn over whether to buy this or not. Did you open it? Are you pleased??

Is it just the pretty coloured vinyls attracting you? The previous boxsets have looked a lot nicer to me.

Oh no it's not about the colour - it's whether these are remastered 180g vinyls. Most of my ABBA vinyl is charity shop purchases, some of which are flimsy. Obviously I've got all the albums on CD and have got high quality audio there but I'd be interested in listening to them on good vinyl.

It's just easier (if these are good quality remasters) to get the whole catalogue in a box than to buy them individually..

It's not really a HARDSHIP when you're clearly spending considerable amounts of time feeding your dirty habit anyway!

All the album are being redone individually as double 180g anyway (Super Trouper end of October, apparently), and they always end up in sales. I'd be inclined to go for those, unless you want the pretty (but entirely unremarkable) box.

And despite this being 'sold out' immediately upon release, it seems to be widely available pretty much everywhere now.

I'm not sure how 'limited' it is (it isn't numbered), but I think unless you really are desperate to have this, I'd be holding my nerve and hoping it will hit the sales.

Thanks - I think I'll skip on this for now. I'm kind of over the coloured vinyl thing anyway and if better remasters are coming I'll just hold off.

Yes, the whole, “it’s REALLY LIMITED”, “oh here’s another 30,000 copies” is a trick they’ve tried a FEW times.

The Abba repackaging bandwagon really is fucking DISGUSTING.

I own all the digipak CD reissues they did god knows how long ago and charity shop vinyls and that’s the lot.

Oh and SUEDE, if you’re worried about it sounding so good because your copies are flimsy, invest in a shit hot record player which can make even the worst things sound good.

Thanks lovely. I've got an ION record player (this one: Amazon product ASIN B00XCETWIW). I tend to think of it as 'mid-range' (happy to be corrected!), but generally I am quite happy with it.

Just playing Super Trouper on it right now and it sounds pretty good (£1 Oxfam copy naturally... )

I do need to invest in one of those record cleaners as well though..

M’dear, have any of the albums had this treatment yet, or are they starting with Super Trouper?

I don’t think they started at the very beginning (and would need to check to be sure) but they have definitely done all the ones from Arrival.

Interestingly the vinyls don't seem to be as widely available as I thought. I posted above that Voulez Vous was on sale at the start of January on recordstore.co.uk, but it seems to have gone completely. I know it was in the last HMV sale as well.

This is the last vinyl boxset from 2014. Amazon tells me I paid £82 for it. Someone is trying to get £480 for it now. Good luck with that.
