Agnes - Fingers Crossed

This song is incredible.

On why she hasn't had more success, I can only assume radio programmers look at her name and go 'SORRY GRANDMA' and throw her on the NO pile with Ethel, Phyllis and Madonna.

I mean, she took SEVEN YEARS off - it's hard to survive that and come back with a hit. She's basically a new artist again, making music that is very much For The Gays - what do people expect?

It's not awful, but Swedes use Spotify more than just about anybody. Lots of big-in-Sweden artists routinely rack up 20-30+ million streams even for modest hits that do nothing abroad.

If a Swedish artist racks up 20-30 million streams, that's a huge hit, not a modest one.

Darin's latest one hasn't left the Spotify Top 50 since its release earlier in the year, and yet hasn't hit 20 million streams yet. Smith & Thell's 'Goliath' has been one of the biggest hits of the year in Sweden, and is still some way off 15 million streams.

She's doing fine for an independent artist with no radio support and who doesn't need to worry about streaming income (her partner, a prolific songwriter, has that covered).

Glad she’s picked a soulmate well :eyes:

This is now #1 at Swedish Radio, and it reaches a new peak of #52 on the main Swedish charts too. It's also at #59 on Swedish Spotify.

So it should pick up and become a proper legit hit? We need this to be picked up and be the start of a worldwide Aggie comeback :disco:

I doubt she'd compete, but I wonder if she could bag an interval slot at Melfest this year? That'd be a great gig for her.

I wasn’t that INTO Fingers Crossed on the ONE LISTEN I graced it, maybe I should give it another go

*watches the iconic QX GAY Awards performance again instead*
I'm the opposite. Fingers Crossed is increible for me, that QX thing has never clicked.

This is fine but Nothing Can Compare is easily the best, for me, of these comeback batch of songs followed by iTrance.

I liked Nothing Can Compare immediately but this... this is something different. Her trembling voice combined with the instrumental gives me an uneasy feeling, like it's the hair of the dog :manson:

Hmmm... I see it's slowly creeping up the ranks on Svensktoppen too, it's now at number 2 and now on the verge of overtaking Zara Larsson :D:(

This just got 5 seconds of vocals and a sound bed on Naked Attraction.

iTunes number 247 incoming

This thread has just made me go and buy I NEED YOU NOW on 12" for NO APPARENT REASON :disco:

1. On And On (Any version but UK wins)
2. Fingers Crossed

AS WE SPEAK

Top points for listening to the fact all year I've sung the same line OVER AND OVER AGAIN, but complete FAIL in that I can't wear this admittedly WONDERFUL t-shirt outside the house in case anyone thinks I'm a DESPERATE SINGLETON :D

@Hak - which chart is considered more significant to Swedes? Svensktoppen or Sverigetopplistan?

So is it number 1 in SWEDEN?

I know it's "out" in the UK already, but I REALLY hope it gets picked up for a proper release in the new year. It would fit effortlessly onto most UK radio playlists, and with THAT VIDEO in the bag its a ready-made PACKAGE!
