SOPHIE DEAD

The Guardian article has this, which I hadn't seen elsewhere:
Sophie’s UK label Transgressive added: “True to her spirituality she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell. She will always be here with us.”
:(

So it’s all very confirmed now. I haven’t followed their music career deeply enough to consider myself a fan, but what pains me the most is that these losses are huge for the LBGT+ community specially when you consider how much harder we must work and how few of these icons we have. Rest in peace.

Just realised that's two 'celebrities' I love* that have died in really sudden and unfair ways within just over a week of each other, with my dad's anniversary right in the middle of them. Fuck this.

*(the other one being Mira Furlan, who I was going to post about but felt it was too niche even for here)

Very tragic. Maybe not the most well-known, but she clearly meant a lot to her fans. RIP

She should have been a generation's Bowie. Instead she's Jeff Buckley - lost to misadventure, leaving a small but astonishing catalogue behind her and a grey cloud of what could have been hovering over us all.

Fucking awful.

That’s very sad and a terrible thing to happen, something that any of us might attempt to do.

I was only really familiar with her due to the Grimes spat a few years ago which Grimes apologised for, sounds like she was an immense talent.

This is horribly sad, 34 is far too young for her life to be over and it was wonderful to have such a talented and also intelligent trans artist for us all to look up to. It's the community's loss, and all of our loss.

Every time I read an interview of hers it was obvious she knew exactly what she was talking about. What could have been...

Super fucked off about this, still. Sank several cans listening to "Oil...". Now wondering what to do next creatively given that she left me choking in the dust.

I’m not sure I could to listen to her right now, every time I hear a clip on someone’s Instagram story it just makes me terribly sad.

I listened to the album this morning and I was a proper wreck - I always have the urge to do that when somebody dies, and it's never usually a good idea for me.

I put it on as soon as I got home from work and I was an absolute wreck.

Disco nights
City lights
In a dream
I can almost feel you again
Next to me
Beautiful
Where I want to be forever

I want to go back to forever
You'll always be my forever
I want to go back to forever
You'll always be my forever

I realised we haven't heard from Charli yet. She must be absolutely devastated.

Yes :( It seems clear to me they had such a deep connection, where do you even start? Same with A.G. Cook, who also hasn't commented publicly yet.

I don't know why, but I found some comfort in seeing the outpouring of love and tributes from musicians, both those who knew her and those who were fans (I believe this is being edited as more are added):

Can confirm Zu is mourning and hoping Burial doesn’t die next because the latest song was so good.
