Lithuania 2021: The Roop - Discoteque

Roop guy is a beaut.

This is so much worse than "On Fire", but I'm assuming will gain traction regardless.

I think in Moldova a LARGE CHEQUE is required though.

I just remembered this Moldavian TEA I got last year from my Chisinau correspondent.

I'll bung them a tenner and a few old French francs I had lying around, that should be enough to buy me slot number 2 of heat 1 at least. Plus a few human heads of their choice

Very glad to have Miss Gangster Moll back for Moldova this year, but it won't be a patch on "Prison" (where anyone who doesn't vote for her ends up)

I thought their first performance was better but so pleased they've won

I feel like I've learned so much about Lithuania tonight (oldest language, g-spot of Europe, tall, basketball, 5000 euro prizes)

Surely they will unless it’s an INCREDIBLY strong year

LOVE THIS SO MUCH, depending how the rest of the entries pan out I can see this finishing anywhere from top 10 to WINNER tbh :D

It's a future classic for the ages for sure however, and MISTER ROOP is a star. Didn't they win by an absolute ridiculous landslide? :D

Yeah, they got like 74k televotes compared to the 6k the second place got :D

Nearly as unpopular as VV Brown :(

@Iguana i heard you say on @dUb ’s podcast yesterday that the Lithuanian selection was awful this year, and you are CORRECT because this has clearly been set up for a Roop retribution. HOWEVER, I just want to emphasise that Lithuania has had one of the best national selections of the past few years, to the point where I might do a thread of the greatest hits.

I was thinking more about the show itself, where they seem to just chat shit for half an hour at the end (to be fair, I can't understand it so they may be making very valid points) and the result gets put up on the screen with no fanfare or enthusiasm. I actually enjoyed most the songs I heard! I'd love to hear the greatest hits from previous years, so please do a thread! And thanks for listening to the podcast :emoji_heart:

I love the performance of Discotheque and I think it'll do very well with Juries and televoters. I think On Fire is much stronger as an actual song though - I could see that being a hit outside the Contest (and indeed, in Lithuania it was massive) whereas I don't think Discotheque will have quite as much of an afterlife.

Still very good though!

Don't think it's going to be a personal fave of mine this year but it's about time something else takes the crown from LT United as Lithuania's best ever result.

What this does have going for it, which I don't necessarily think is a surefire or anything, but I do think it has possibly the highest potential to win over the public in the first 15 seconds.
