This deserves its own thread. I don’t know why I waited so long to start it but 3 episodes in and it’s just so warm and cheerful.

Probably the closest thing to Parks and Rec since it ended. He has such Leslie Knope vibes. Also love the set of the town they’re shooting in.

Yesss!!! The best show I’ve watched in a while!

It’s on of those shows where every character is likable and even when they are doing bad things, they have a reason and are relatable.

It’s also just so pleasant to watch. You’re right about the Parks and Rec similarities

I bingewatched this earlier this year and I loved it. I hope there's a second season. I already liked Jason Sudeikis, but this role really fit him like a glove I thought.

My home town :disco: Well the outdoor setting is anyway and they tend to stick to Richmond Green and some nice scenic views on Richmond Hill which is super posh. I think they shoot the football training scenes in Hayes or something.

I love this show so much. I’ve tried and tried to get into Parks and Rec however and just can’t despite loving almost all of the cast in other things, but that’s a whole other topic.

Yes!!

Apple already greenlit season 2 (which they’re shooting now) and a third season. Apparently it brought in 25% more subscriptions the week it premiered.

It is such a good show, agree so much about everyone just being so likable and great (apart from Rebeccas ex, though he serves his purpose)!

I’ve told a few people about it and they’re like .. football!? Nah .. but then they’re addicted and love it once they realize it’s so much more than the sport.

That’s great news!
Can’t wait!
Watching Ted trying his best to be positive no matter what and look for the goodness is people is very inspiring, personally speaking.

I hope they keep up the good work with the writing, because it was spot on!

Finished this Friday night then immediately went to Richmond to look at some of the locations

Feel a bit sick in the mouth saying it but it has so much heart in the show and it’s nice to have a show like that where you root for everyone

Ted gives me Lesley Knope vibes which is only a good thing

Season 2 drops this Friday.

I am thrilled with the Emmy love - they all got acting noms! It really was a phenomenal debut so hopefully season 2 is just as good.

I don’t think the full season is dropping on Friday. Apple does weekly so they’re gonna milk it.

I’m really enjoying a lot of the TV+ shows at the moment, but my free year is up very soon.

They don’t quite have the quantity of content to justify the monthly subscription compared to others so I guess this is the way to do it. Otherwise I’d pay for one month, binge the shows and unsubscribe.

Brett Goldstein as Roy is really the breakout star of this. I just realised I saw him in a film called SuperBob last year where he played a man who gets superpowers after being hit by a meteorite.

I'll never watch this show, but this woman defending it by saying it's about eating pussy is a queen and a legend:

unpopular opinion but Season 2 so far has been a snorefest. Season 1 was amazing since Episode 1.

I really didn’t enjoy season 2, the episodes kept getting longer and longer and they just repeated the same beats. The Coach episode is one of the worst most self indulgent shit I’ve had to sit through.

I thought I was the only one struggling with Season 2! It's just really boring! I thought the Psychologist would bring something new to the table but in a matter of episodes she did appear less and less.

I started watching this while I recover from covid and I’ve loved season 1! It’s so positive and feel good I have a good cry every episode.

Is season 2 really that bad?

I genuinely loved Season 2 just as much. I don’t know why anyone else has a problem with it.

Season 2 was OK but I think it went a bit dark for Ted Lasso. The psychiatrist was boring as fuck and not entirely sure what they’re doing with Nate…

And Beards night on the town was horrendous.

Just to give my tuppence on this, Season 2 definitely more of a slog than the 1st one, but I don’t think it was bad per se. Perhaps some parts of it were a bit unexpected.

No idea, never watched it. Just saw the tweet and remembered sering a thread so thought I'd share it.

That's a good example of what's fucking stupid about the 'news cycle' these days - the tweet says definitively that Ted Lasso's going to end after three seasons, but that's not what yer man actually says in the quotes.

The fact Apple haven't commented makes me think it's bollocks and his "it's being written as the final series" is just him applying the pressure during ongoing negotiations for more. This is one of those relatively rare shows that's both a massive hit and can return for years - I'd be shocked if Apple are just going to let it needlessly die after three seasons in the midst of the streaming wars. And I'd be even more shocked if the cast/creatives are going to turn down the SHITLOADS OF CASH that Apple can afford for more series just to honour some arbitrary three-series-arc that was drafted out before the writers knew it was a hit.

*is entirely wrong and Apple axe it tomorrow* (but I hope not because I fucking love it. FOUR MORE YEARS.)

I watched the first episode of season 3 and I think that’s it for me. I think once the charm spell is broken there’s no going back and I just find it annoying now.

I found eps 1 and 2 a bit shakey/weak, and I don't think it'll ever recapture the magic of season one, but I'm still enjoying it.

Ep three was my favourite of this season by far. Also, in finally featuring HOMOSEXUALISTS it addressed an issue I've had with the show, i.e. that this really lovely positive, inclusive and progressive football programme wasn't going anywhere near what is arguably football's biggest remaining taboo, and using its force for good there.

It's just too unhinged sometimes, like how they just ditched the lesbian storyline after two episodes, wtf was that about?

Once I realised this was about football I lost interest. Is it really worth a watch? (Is the football element pretty non-existent?)

I quite literally despise football and this is really just wonderful. It’s about people and the football stuff is just inconsequential.

Lmao I know while ignoring the gay footballer storyline they’d setup an episode beforehand :D

Season three has been objectively bad, frequently with some of the worst dialogue on television, but... I still really like watching it every week? The cast is so strong and likeable, and I guess I just like the upbeat, low stakes watchability of it all.

The only stuff that sparks absolutely no joy for me is the Nate storyline, such as it is. It's been such a waste of Nick Mohammed, and just doesn't work in any way shape or form for me.
