S13 E12: Nice Girls Roast

I do find it bizarre that a couple of weeks ago Utica was worrying about cultural appropriation and this week she's making fat jokes...
 
Utica is that w-hite girl who is very much a... performative ally. The small-town religious hatred jumps out in unexpected ways.

Oh I don’t know about that, she seems genuinely sweet. I think she’s just a bit strange. Maybe the spirit is moving her to be an evil bitch.
 
I loved Utica but her biggest problem was that she was her own biggest fan - she didn’t know how to edit because she thought everything she did went really well. She was right when it came to the aesthetic, her look and outfits were always a thrill. But her humour and delivery was just always on a different planet to everyone else and no matter how many times she was told she was just shrug her shoulders and be like, well I thought that went great....

There was definitely a sense of emotional suppression too. Whenever she was in the bottom and even when she was eliminated she’d instinctively go to the “I feel great, I feel happy” place. Great to be so positive but in a competition you need much more self awareness to win.
 
Her Whatcha Packin' was unbearable. I stanned for 5 minutes over that sleeping bag, but it's a no from me now.

well I guess she’s not for everyone (still not 100% she’s for me but I’d rather like someone than not, all things being equal)
 
Just from my own personal experience, but I think Utica might potentially be on the spectrum. There are numerous times when she's completely unaware of social queues. And the other queens' responses really emphasize that.

She's still an underrated runway queen though, and I'd pick her over Kandy Lose any day. I never wanna see her ever again.
 
She was all over the place (both physically and mentally) and didn’t listen to any advice they gave her. It was rather unsettling watching her so I’m quite relieved that she’s gone.
 
Back to thinking Kandy is an arsehole again after that tweet. Just because we’re being told you’re funny, it doesn’t mean you actually are, so I wouldn’t be getting too carried away with myself if I were you.

Yeah but she was obviously desperate to lord her win over everybody because she's so used to being untalented. She pounced on Utica as soon as she could. It was just an apology.

In theory it should be very busy knowing SOME QUEENS, but they just wouldn't realise.
 
It's just bizarre that Utica went as far as creating an afro made out of squirrels out of fear of offending by playing a white man WITH AN AFRO, and yet had no foresight that calling two women fat over and over and over again OUTSIDE OF THE ROAST(!) might be a bit distasteful.
 
That tweet was funny and based on it maybe Kandy is growing. She was very defensive at the very beginning and the clique with FOH Tina Burner did her no favors but I have hope that she might get better.
 
There are definitely more hateful queens who outlasted their welcome and are coming back that make me not want to watch. Mainly Silky, Eureka and Cynthia Lee Fontaine.
 
I didn't watch the particular episode, but read in the vulture review she made an afro out of squirrels to avoid cultural appropriation, I thought it was an OUTLANDISH JOKE!! Omg that it ACTUALLY HAPPENED!
 
To avoid cultural appropriation from wearing an afro wig, when she was impersonating Bob Ross. Who was a white guy who didn't even HAVE an afro! It's one of the most baffling things to ever happen on the show, for me :D
 
Even moreso the reactions from the queens in that episode one by one, ranging from confusion to sheer horror, and cut to Utica:

“I’m feeling really positive about this... :)”
