Big Boi on Kate Bush in 2010:

"I want to work with Kate Bush… That’s, like, my dream collaboration, most definitely. Just the realness of her music, the stories behind the songs as well as the production, how things kind of evolve as the song progresses … She’s a very creative artist, producer and writer. She’s like my top favorite next to Bob Marley … Kate Bush is number one on the list."

Tori Amos on Kate Bush in 1998:

“I’ll never forget the first time I heard about Kate,” Amos recalls. “I was playing in a club, I was 18 or 19 and somebody came up to me, pointed their finger and said, Kate Bush. I went, Who’s that?"

Kate Bush when asked by Mojo if she liked Tori's music in 2006:"*long pause* Can we talk about Rolf Harris instead?"

St Vincent on Kate Bush:

"this may sound really silly-- but I just discovered Kate Bush, probably six months ago, and I think she's so great. I know I'm very late to the party here, I know this is old news, but I got a Kate Bush record, and I forget-- I think "The Dreaming" is on it, though I'm spacing on the name of the record. It has Kate Bush in this totally miraculous ascot, too, on the back. She just went for it. It's so great. She totally went for it."

Also St Vincent on Kate Bush:

"I still remember going to the CD World and buying The Sensual World when I was sixteen. And the cover, there’s a rose in front of her mouth that has bloomed, she’s got big wide eyes. And I remember, you know, putting it in the shitty car stereo on the way home, and you know, my life was forever changed.”

Is this real? :D

I’m sure given the choice these days she’ll take the question on Tori over Rolf.

I always took the long pause as her finding the idea of pitting/comparing female acts as tiresome more than a reaction to Tori and her music though the press tried to make it about the latter.

That's a good point! I doubt she's heard many Tori songs, if any. I think the question probably just bored her!

OT (kind of sort of): I'm still in a Beekeeper mood after @jivafox 's sync listenette. In fact after the success* of my Madonna top 50 I'm toying with Tori top 50 next!

* My definition of success = I managed to finish it.

Yes Kate has always been good at rising above that. There's this interview below where Madonna is mentioned several times re: headset mic and Kate just smiles serenely and resists the bait. Ugh such a queen.

I think I'm in for this, whether the SPOUSE likes it or not

It's been ages since I had a Kateathon so this will get me right back in :disco:

I mean the top 7 pretty much swap about ALL THE TIME, and even "50" and "Lionheart" get up there occasionally

1. Lily
Director's Cut, 2011 (originally on The Red Shoes, 1993)

"She said, 'Child, take what I say with a pinch of salt
And protect yourself with fire'"

We start with a spiritual prayer to protect us as we journey through our Kate deep cuts. Here Kate turns to her (now deceased RIP with the angles) spiritual adviser Lily to guide her against her demons. Lily advises that she surrounds herself with four angels in a circle of fire (@Lucille).
