Kate Bush Deep Cuts playlist sync

The first two albums are cute, but they're not really where I GO when I want a bit of Kate to be honest.

Everything here is just that clean polished phase, very piano-led and like @ButterTart said, more "percussion" based I guess. It's classic song structure in SOME ways but Kate continues to make each song unusual, each one is a THEATRE SHOW :disco:

7. 12" Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)
Original is on Hounds of Love, 1985

"Let me steal this moment from you now"

Well, to make sure I'm keeping your attention, here's an alternate version of Running Up That Hill, that isn't all that different to the original.

I always forget what's different in this version, is it just an extended intro and outro?

Oh shit that was ace and I forgot it existed! She came out on the back of a mini and they'd replaced Emma and Mel B with Jessie J and Tim Berners-Lee.

I might be misremembering but I think that's what happened.
Correct. Happened just as Emeli Sandé was dragging her piano on stage for her number "I love to boogie"

I'd love to know what it was like to be a Kate fan in 1985 and, after a few years in the wilderness chart wise, coming back and destroying EVERYTHING with this masterpiece! If we can call it a comeback, it's in the top 5 ever achieved!

I remember reading a magazine published an article 'WHATEVER HAPPENED TO KATE BUSH?' just a few weeks before RUTH was announced...!

8. Among Angels
50 Words For Snow, 2011

"I might know what you mean when you say you fall apart. Aren't we all the same, in and out of doubt?"

One to turn off all your lights and sit in candlelight for. Kate's message to a friend suffering from mental affliction, pouring out empathy. I think the lyrics are some of her most evocative and I've always loved the chorus of "I can see angels standing around you. They shimmer like mirrors in summer". The subtle flourish at the end of "There's someone who's loved you forever, but you don't know it. You might feel it but just not show it" is stunning.

It's not a short song and it's just Kate and the piano (which in itself is rare in Kate's discography) but it's a real beauty if you take the time to close your eyes and listen. She really gives the music space to breathe.

Was it not the Melody Maker or NME on the very DAY she appeared on Wogan performing this? That might be fan legend :D

Omg can a magazine or popular online music site please do the same today. She might respond angrily and give us the greatest song of the century :disco:

Among Angels is nice when I'm in the mood for it, but I was actually slightly disappointed that she came out for an encore at Before The Dawn and did this - I know that makes me a flop fan, sorry :(
