nothing to strike fear into the soul like the prospect of Demi Lovato dropping a 22-track opus with a double-barrel-clichéd self help title on a month's notice.

7th album coming April 2nd. the only already-released track included is the ballad Anyone apparently, and there may be an Ariana duet. several alternative covers too

the whole thing screams mess. let's see!

I quite like the album covers.

I think I will swerve the 22 track abomination, but do tag me if she drops a COOL FOR THE SUMMER redux :disco:

She has a documentary coming out about the time she almost died.

yet ANOTHER documentary! the last one was good but I won't be watching this.

my trick me once, WON'T let you trick me TWICE.

I know she technically has a good voice, but it’s just so abrasive. Even in the two decent tracks (Summer and Heart Attack) it’s still just rather jarring. I’d rather paper thin vocalist Gomez sang/spoke them just to make them a bit easier to swallow.

those album covers, is this her Never Really Over era?

I think she has a single out right now but she's been chart poison for years hasn't she? Wish she could just embrace her teen pop punk days and record a whole album full of Monsters inspired songs yet she insists in wishy washy shit like People Say and It's OK not to be OK.

How is this her SEVENTH album? Especially since she hasn't released anything in nearly five years.

I find plenty to like on each album, so I'm cautiously perched. Plus "I Love Me" was one of my favorites from 2020. :shy:

Plot twist. Apparently, from all the standalone singles she has released, screamathon misery anthem "Anyone" is the only one that made it onto the tracklist. :zombie:

hopefully we'll be proven wrong.

The name actually reminded me of that, but not as iconic

lead single

it's quite good. great lyrics and she sounds brilliant. quite restrained by her standards.

album is HERE, and early word is that it's quite good (if you skip Anyone) - listening now

The Ari track, Met Him Last Night, has a good Spotify push today

:D

the album kind of flies by actually. but if you just want to dip your toe in, I recommend Carefully, The Kind of Lover I Am and The Way You Don't Look At Me.

Oh dear if "The Kind of Lover I Am" is a highlight

I don't care if you got a dick
I don't care if you got a WAP
I just wanna love
You know what I'm sayin?

Listening now.

Just got to the end of 'Madison's Lullaby'. Pass the sick bucket.

I got to Madison’s Lullaby then had to switch to Chemtrails. Will try again later

Okay, in the spirit of Demi's confessional, self-help schtick, #itgetsbetter.

'Lonely People' is quite a fun P!nk song. 'The Way You Don't Look At Me' feels like it'd fit in on Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves. 'Melon Cake' has the best chorus and WORST LYRICS so far. I don't know what to make of it. A summery Europop bop about recovering from an eating disorder is an interesting ARTISTIC CHOICE. 'Carefully', 'The Kind of Lover I Am' and 'California Sober' are pretty charming, easy-listening moments (the outro to '... Lover' though :manson:/:D)

Oh not another miserable piano version of 'Mad World'.

There's a lot of filler, Ariana Grande collab included, and the music industry needs to STOP trying to make Noah Cyrus happen, but there's a fair amount worth taking from the album, which is more can be said of any of her albums in the '10s, so lets celebrate that.

On a related note, I binged the three eps (thus far) of her new doc and am quite consumed by it. Love the doodles too!

Also, I've come to the conclusion that "Dancing with the Devil" is literally "Fall Into Line" with different lyrics

Haven't heard it yet, and probably won't because she's such a shit pop star. But people are dragging her.

that is... one person.

and I believe that person should probably step off the neck of somebody who very nearly died and is now trying to navigate her way through a lifetime of trauma, and go milk the cow or something instead.

@ ing her is so classless.

Surprised at that UK opening. US isn’t too bad either, given that she shoved this out with no hit.
