Eurovision Rewatch: Brighton 1974

What do you think we are, a modern day FREAK SHOW?

I was going to say earlier that lounge freak show favourite Tiny Tina The World’s Smallest Horse seems to have disappeared and I’m a bit worried, but maybe she’s hiding inside Sizeable Sue The World’s Largest Vagene

There was a quote of yours knocking around for a bit where you called us a zauberhaus of freaks, depressives and insomniacs. I think that summed us up quite neatly.

:D So did I!

It was actually insomniacs, depressives, autistics and hysterics, but close enough :disco:

Here's a little something to take your mind off it

Anyone for seconds?

:D You’ve got a collection of these, haven’t you?

What’s with the repeated HOLE IN THE MIDDLE theme? Looks so RICH AND MOIST :disco:

Well that was quite sweet, it’s my first time with a vintage one. Though oddly I remember watching Melodifestivalen 1974 in the hotel when I was in Malmö in 2013.

the wheels fell off a bit for the second half of the songs, but on the whole, SOIXANTE QUATORZE was a jolly few hours of quaint 70s programming

For reasons unknown the commentary of 1974 switches from English to another language half way through.

Yeah it's clearly been polished of late.

Speaking of polished ABBA, I notice Dancing Queen video has been given the 4k treatment. I'd prefer Super Trouper, KMKY or Chiquitita.

I imagine they are doing the lot for some Gold repackage. That's about to hit a THOUSAND weeks on the chart and it's been a while, so perhaps not so far away...

I think that's part of the dual-commentary thing, they've taken the best bits of whatever film they could find.

Also can someone change the thread title? Every time it pops up I get confused about a new sync watch tonight.

I remember watching it about a year ago and although the video was complete, at least a couple of the songs had the audio muted.

An improvement in some cases?
I'm not sure I remember any real howlers that year! Portugal perhaps?

Fairly sure both Mouth & MacNeal and Gigliola were missing from the one I saw. And the latter is a stone cold classic.

This is on BBC4 on Sunday 7th April, with a celebratory introduction by Hannah Waddingham, if anyone fancies doing it all again.
