Sheryl launched her successful greatest hits with this very lovely cover version of the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens song. The video is stunning too.

A lovely cover which suits her splendidly. Hardly ever hear it anymore as I forget about the Greatest Hits, but it really cuts her career in half for me. There's the chart success Sheryl vs the Real Music just-4-fanz-now Sheryl. I guess it was quite a common for a Greatest Hits to feel like a closed chapter, especially as music moved on beyond the 90s.

Still: One of the best live acts I've ever seen.

She’s definitely one of the acts I haven’t seen live yet that I most want to.

I actually only discovered the Rod Stewart version today when I searched for the video on Youtube :D

I always knew it was a cover but couldn’t have told you who sang the original as it feels like one of those songs countless people have sang but Sheryl’s is lovely.

REALLY? The Rod Stewart one is the version I grew up with, but it’s been done by loads of other people. For that reason I thought it was an incredibly unnecessary version by Sheryl Crow and never connected with it.

The Rod Stewart version is so famous!

What makes this worse is that my mum is a Little Rodster.

Now I am the BIGGEST Sheryl Crow fan around, but I’ve never been that into her covers. I agree with Ellie this felt entirely unnecessary. I’d rather hear her cover something by Bonnie Raitt or Stevie Nicks or The Eagles or something like that.

Love this and the original. But my mother is a huge Cat Stevens fan so maybe I'm biased.

Rod WHO?

I mean she could have spiced it up with a banshee-esque screech and some off kilter guitars or SOMETHING.

This cover was MASSIVE in the States and is still constantly on the radio. I think it's quite nice on her but a bit bland. I am more of a "Picture" kind of guy for her post-2000 output.

I had a Sheryl session last night. There's probably a good 10 or so gems, which ain't bad.

My fave is What I Can Do For You

This seems like as good a place as any to mention a recent revelation: I had no idea that Cat Stevens was THIS good looking in his youth

(The beard helped him a lot - relatable king)

Anyway Sheryl's version is nice x

Not one of my favorites but a nice cover and I still hear it on the radio fairly often.

I listened to her episode of armchair expert this week and I found her extremely likable and I’d love to watch a documentary about her.

It's such a good song that it's hard to mess up, but I do have a soft spot for P.P. Arnold's sultry version.

Yeah I can strum a guitar too. My guitar teacher has been quiet during COVID. I hope he's ok. I'm still only on 2 chords as a consequence. I can play 'Zombie' though.

I still just CANT at MJ molesting poor Sheryl during ‘I just can’t stop loving you’ in the live concerts
